do those "magic filters" work?

i've seen people saying that those filters speed up the colonization of the jars a lot and that they tremendously reduce the risk of contamination. is that true?

Yes they work...

In the 60's people took acid to make the world weird. Now the world is weird, people take prozac to make it normal.

All these accounts of shroom growing have at some point in them "and when I took the tape off the holes the jars exploded with mycelial growth" so having the whole top of the jar open to air exchange would no doubt dramaticly speed up colonization, plus micronmagic has em for 100 fer $15, mighty fair i'd say.
I'm planning on using these when I cultivate, I wonder if someone whos used them could tell me; do you need to use 2 filters per jar (like, one to stick your innoc. syringe through and another one to cover the first) or are the filters still good for keeping out the badness even after being punctured by a little needle?

I put in my order today!
On the web site it says one is good if you use a top layer of verm. but if you use a big jar w/grain it's better w/2.
