What is the Point?
    #3398263 - 11/23/04 02:28 PM (13 years, 6 months ago)

I was in my yard when the water meter reader came by, so I took the opportunity to ask him if he thought water witching or dowsing can locate water.

His response was, "Well, some people believe in it, but I don't. How can finding water with a forked stick work?"

Then, he went on to say that the water company locates their pipes with metal rods, because it saves them unnecessary digging. "One of our guys walks around with the rods until they cross, and that's where we dig. It gets us within a couple of feet of the water pipe", he said.

Anxiety is what you make it.

dowsing with bent coathangers (sounds like what the water co. guy was talking about)...
dowsing with forked sticks...
map dowsing with crystals or pendulums...

old enough to know better
not old enough to care

Not sure of your point. A heresay anecdote means what exactly? My brother's friend's, cousin's co-worker told him it doesn't work.

The proof is in the pudding.
