 Need help making Spawn bags with filter patch.

I have tried many attempts to make some WBS Grain bags. They seem to either burst, or the contam. I bought some of the large spawn bags and I want to make the most grain possible in them. What is the maximum amount I can put in them, whats the recipe, and how long do I need to PC them. Thanks for your help!

How do you prepare your WBS? What size bag & do they have filter patches. What kind of a PC do you have? Do you have an impulse sealer? If you answer those questions, you might get some answers

ill give u some of the experience i had during my fist spawnbag experiment.
i sterilized the bag with 1000 grams of simmered rye and pressure cooked for 2 hours.
after that, i sprayed the inside with h2o2 solution and kicked 170grams of colonised rye into it.
i quickly bent over the top, twisted it, cut is and melted it together
using a lighter.
then i additionally secured the twisted top by tiwisting it some more and holding it in place with a rubberband.
2 weeks later, i had 1170grams of nicely colonised rye 
no contam whatsoever, and i just found out that 1170grams of rye is a bloody
huge ammount once u crumbled it up, damn!

mix birdseed with water, PC, I tried once for 60 mins, the other time I PC'd for 2.5 - 3 hours. I used Large Myco bags with filter patch from mycobags.com. I have and use an impulse sealer, and I triple seal it. thanks for your help!

Is there any tecs on spawn bag use here at the Shroomery?Its seams there would be a great use for one.(Tec)I being one of the poeole that could make use of one???

ok well your problem is you bought the wrong bags. Those will work fine but you cannot preseal them before pressure cooking. You may want to contact mycobag in email to special order the ones that can be presealed without the self healing injection site, they are only $35 for 100. Youre going to have to follow the tek that spliff sent. If you want to simmer your rye instead of just adding water and PCing it, that is fine, but follow the generalities of it. (ie.. closepins, seal after PC) Any other questions?

I dont know how much mass I use, but I ususally use anywhere from 8-16 cups of rye. 14 cups is definetly pushing it, but makes a fucking huge supply of substrate. Lately I've been pushing towards 10 cups. 4 cups is 1 quart I believe.

you're fine man, just follow that tek. Next time email mycobag and tell them you want the presealable bags for $5 more. They dont have them on their site, maybe if you email them and ask about an exchange??? They have great customer service, just a thought.

From the way you noted your process earlier (you mixed your WBS with water), you have to soak and simmer. Soak your grains for 12-24 hours. Then rinse them very thorougly, especially WBS, that shit is DIRTY! Then, simmer for 20-30 minutes, stop once some of your grains start to burst. Then after you simmer, rinse again very thoroughly. Then let the grains drain dry. They should not be dripping at all. What I do instead of a strainer, which takes a while, is I spread all of my grain out on a towel and it dries much faster. After they are dry, load your bags then put them into your PC and cook for 75 minutes at 15 psi. Let cool completely before injecting.
