Who wants to help fred out with some absinthe?

So anyways, I've been thinking about buying one of those absinthe kits off of the internet and they're like 10 bucks; however, at a local "magic/voodoo" I found wormwood for $1/ounce. The only thing that the internet kits come with besides wormwood is flavoring elements.
So basically what I'm asking is would my absinthe still work if I just put all the wormwood in the everclear, let sit for a while, and drank that? Sure it may taste like ass but hey, 9 bucks is only 1 dollar away from ten and thats a dime bag so I gotta save my money here. Any input would be great thanks.

you still need to distil it after, and if your going to make absinthe, I would make it right

I honestly don't know. If you do decide to try that method, keep us posted! I'm rather curious too...

You would probably get similar effects since the thujone in wormwood is alcohol soluable. You'll probably have to let it sit in the bottle of Everclear for a couple of weeks tho. It will probably taste like ass, so good luck on getting it down. Let us know how it works for you.

That's the same process for the cannabis drink Green Dragon, I don't see why it wouldn't work though you'll probably want some way to make it taste a little less disgusting

I ordered a kit and ended up just using the wormwood in everclear because I misplaced the flavoring herbs but not the wormwood.
In effect this makes a wormwood tincture and not absinthe. It still had the effects of absinthe. I tried diluting with sugar and water like absithe, but that didn't help the flavor, it just increased the volume of liquid to drink. So I ended up shooting most of it -- 190 proof wormwood tincure. As you might imagine, it was gastly. It was so harsh, it gave me a sore throat after shooting it... that was probably the 190 proof killing skin cells in my throat though. lol
Btw, I'm no absinthe expert, but I think there are different types of wormwood, so make sure you're getting the right kind.

'taste like ass' is a serious understatement.
i used ricard (aniseed flavour (sweet and strong), 45% alc (too little)) and it tastes like gasoline (no i never tastd gasoline but i can imagine it tastes foul). You could put sugar in it until it becomes syrup, and it would still be bitter.
just so you know, not distilling is really not an option.

You are all talking so much about Absinthe. Why don't you order it from Europe?

Once the extract or tincture is prepared, can it be reduced be evaporating the alcohol? or is the alcohol a necessary part of the "drug" affect of absinthe?
