I have nearly colonized jars, but I can't find a place that stocks some good, adequately large, air tight containers. Anyone know where these can for sure be obtained, and don't say wal-mart, because I've already tried there.

you can go to any grocery store and buy a styrofoam cooler. sorry i know you said dont say walmart but they dont have tepperware containers. are you trying to buy an already setup tererrium? its cheaper to build it and funner.

i got a styrofoam cooler and its really air tight. enough so that my saran wrap for a cover puffs up when the lid goes on.

the reason i have the saran wrap on it is to allow the light to come in. i did it cheap and its working great.

theres no need for an airtight container, you need some air to escape. just use a rubbermaid tub, you can try and build the most advanced set up you can but many have tried and many have failed, im not saying a advanced high tech set up aint worth buliding if built right but a pmp does just as good of job and its simple and is fully auotmatic with no fae needed and it holds rh good

at my local grocery store. i have 2 of them one for my 12/12 light cycle and one for my 18/6 light cycle.

Also, will the styrofoam be a pain in the ass to sterilize, and will it absorb water from the perlite and get moldy?

nah i just sprayed it down with lysol let it air dry and then sprayed it down real good with the water and peroxide. havent gotten a contam yet but i also have only done 3 cakes.

think about it man, its a cooler for christ sake, its made to hold water not absorb it, i think youll be fine with the water in it, also you can use alcohol and lysol like suggested to sterilize it.

the shroom machine..is what you need for air tight..somehting that seals up.. www.beermachine.com ,its my toy i have 1 but i don't htink your going ot find one cheap ..it seals up im running ultra sonic with cool mist everyhting is going to be sealed have a constant pressure..then a release valve for co2..lol pics real soon i found my t valve connecter at lowes working on the hoses.im using a t connecter of pvc with each hose connected to it then the valve will be siliconed. to the insert hole..

Lol, styrofoam coolers are mean to hold in water, lol, it's not cotton, it doesn't suck it up, it does the opposite, if u keep it clean like EVERYthing else, then it will do damn fine, i'm positive, good shit, keep it up and yeah, i hope it works out, later
