I thought I was lucky

      Just when I thought I was lucky with everything, I got 2 contamed jars.  Well, My 6 GT's that I started 2 weeks ago are colonizing great, some are almost 50% done(a little slow).  And about 5 days ago, I made 2 B+ jars, and 2 Cambodian jars.  Nothing had any signs of contams until today. 
      I checked to see if my newest additions had started colonizing yet.  Suprizingly, the B+ are already about 20% done.  But the Cambodians, well, they are colonizing SOMETHING.  It looks like they wanna colonize, cuz theres def. mycelium growing, but there seems to be some very fain green along with the myc.  I imediately pulled them out, wrapped in a bag, and seperated from all others.
      I'm thinking the syringe was contamed, in fact I'm posetive.  Could I be jumbing the gun?  Could the myc. overcome this?  Since seperating the jars, more myc. has grown and seems to be doing well.  Any opinions?  If it doesnt go away they are trash. :thumbdown:

Just keep watching them. Noone can tell you what they will do. It is possible the syringe may be contammed but 1 expieriment is not enough evidence to support this. Next time you noc up some jars, use 1 jar for the suspected contam syringe. I'd try at least 2 more jars at 2 separate times to see.

ive never ever heard of this done before but, maybe if u gave them an extreme cold shock it could kill the weaker trich. and leave the myc. going good.  u probably would hav still a bad cake though :frown:

Usually if you can't get past the first stage of colonizations (jars) then your SOL. Sorry :frown:

I've kept over 3 dozen jars with green and myc to let them fight it out. So far is 0-36, green meanies win.

It may have not been the syringe but a needle improperly sterilized. It may also have been the syringe.

Hmm, we are in similar situations! We started at almost the same time, have almost the same amount of colonization and I had two cakes contam too. But mine was some sort of pink bacterica that smelled like feet, rotten potatoes and sour milk.
Contams will probably win the war, I wouldn't fuck with those jars. Clean em' out before they get any more nasty (and they will get pretty ripe if you let those contams grow)
