jesus fucking CHRIST

What the hell is wrong with what i'm doing?
Temps mid mid 60's to mid 70's. Perlite on the bottom. Fan 3 to 5 times a day. 12-16 hours of light a day.
I've had these conditions for well over a month and a half now, yet STILL none of my casings will do anything but completely cover what ever patching job i do. They will not pin. No matter what. For the first 3 weeks i wasn't worried a bit. Then another came, and another, and another. And now i'm nearing the 4 another, and i'm starting to get a little pissed off.
Not really angry, but jesus christ what the hell's the hold up? Is there something very fundamental that i'm missing here? ...fuck

And it's not like it isn't superbly healthy looking stuff. But it just will not stop growing and start pinning. I'm about to just give up and leave them all to sit for a week without me touching them and see if that does anything.

Your temps are definitely lower than they should be. Fruiting temps should be around 74-78 consistently....no in the 60's. Also, how is your humididty? You didn't make reference to that at all. Humididty is very important for knot formation.

I don't know the humidity, i just have perlite and water droplets form on the side, so i'm sure it's 100%. It's not overlayed yet, like i said it's very very healthy and white looking. I haven't cold shocked, but now i will. And nevermind i can't because i have a tiny ass fridge packed with fruit at the moment... I think i'll just put them by my window with the fan on. That should get em fucking cold... and pin.... i hope... dear jesus....
Thanks for quick responses everybody!

He said it was still growing strong and healthy through all the patch jobs. If it was overlay it would be a dense mat of mycelia.

Exactly. It started to become overlayed, starting to turn yellow and blue (really dried out) on one of them, but after i put more casing material, i'm just using verm, in a couple of days it picked right back up where it was. I just checked them right now and my entire patch job is nearly covered... again.

what strain are you using?
how did you get them going? (multispore, karo, clone, etc)
i had this problem once and there was nothing i could do but toss them. just ran into a non-fruiting substrain. might not be the same in your case but possible.

How much verm did you use? Verm is a poor casing material..have you been misting lots? A picture would help us soooo much.

yeah, pics, good. And overlay looks stringy and not to great, Overlay, is gay. Maybe you need to expose them to more light, When my cake wouldn't fruit i gave thought that maybe the light was to far away so i figured it didnt know when to fruit so i put it closer to my light source and let it stay there for 24 hours, now that may not be the same in your case but mine fruited well after that, there's plenty of things to try so im sure if u try some u'll eventually figure it out...well gl, i hope it works its self out.

I mean INSTEAD of verm. I know the 50/50+ coir. But I see scatman stating verm being not a very suitable thing 4 casings. So I was wondering bout any substitutes.... Also I saw a post of Beejay stating that verm is not needed when casing grain.
SO I am curious if I got that correct and how they case grain without verm!
Thanks though mate!

I'm sorry I should clarify..straight verm isn't good for casings..it gives the mycelium to air. Coir or peat should be added. I've found water content of straight verm is hard to determine as well..just didnt fruit as well..took longer and mushrooms werent as big.
You can case with straight coir or peat and no verm but I think verm does make an excellent additive. I'm unsure of what Beejay was talking about but IMO 70/30 or 50/50+ are the best things your gonna find..try and use any by themselves and you wont get as good of results.
I really can't see the straight verm causing this long of a delay but I'm very unsure as to what could cause it to just not fruit..a cold shock shouldnt be needed at those temps..assuming they get lots of water I dont know anymore without a pic..

Ah now i get it, thanks 4 xplaining smr!
Beejay was mentioning it in a thread where someone said he had a hard time getting his hands on some vermiculite. BJ then respondend with something like switch to casings then u dont have that verm problem anymore..
And since I havent found affordable verm yet I thought "Hey, I wanna know more!"...
I might send him a PM, but for now.... I call it a day!
Nice week everybody....
