My kids and I watched it twice this week. I was telling them that in 1978 (when the movie first aired in theaters) they would play it after the regular movie lineup on Sat. night around 12 midnight (for a couple weeks, if memory serves). There were only about 12 people in the theater. No one was that interested in The Grateful Dead back then - just the same, my friends and I had a good time. At the "intermission" everyone kind of looked at each other to see if someone was going to be the first to fire one up. It was really a funny moment. We all gathered near each other and passed around some joints and a bowl.
What really strikes me now when I watch it, is that back then we (my friends and I) were kind of bummed out that they weren't really playin' that well in the movie - they weren't melting faces and all (themselves). But now I think they were really playin' well. It revives the whole argument we used to have about the shows, was it them or us? In other words.... oh, well I'll tell you later if you really want to know.... all I can say is that I haven't seen that movie since 1978 and I sure love the whole digital movement. Jerry would have really dug it, too!

yea, i started to watch some of the bonus material, it had an interview with donna jean, and she was saying that durring the shooting of the movie, that when johnny b goode came on, she couldnt contain herself, and startd jammin out, trippin, just lettin it all go, and thought "donna, your embarrasing yourself" but kept jammin, then she dreaded anyone seeing the video, cause of how she acted, and everyone was gonna tease her and whatnot, so she was all nervious, and she finaly went into the editing room of where they were going over the footage, and she was just dreading it, and johnny b goode came on, and she was watching it, and she didnt even move the whole song.
