No not if you buy it in a petshop. Polyfill is used as aquarium filters in waterpumps and there it is sold as larger patches.

You can buy it in rolls or by the foot if you're looking for something to use for plugs. I prefer rolled cotton from the drugstore...no worries about it melting in the pressure cooker. If someone nosey asks what you need it for just say garandpa has bedsores.

Cotton is "contam hotel" it absorbs water and holds it where polyfil does not. Not a good choice AND certainly not recommended by me.

Can polyfill be put in the pressure cooker? I change the cotton for rubber plugs after the pc cools by the way.I don't use it for protecting cultures long term. just so I don't have a pressure difference in containers when they cool and to let stean escape. I stand corrected on the contam thing though I never considered that. I thing I'll resterilise my water flask!

You can go to a fabric store and buy plain polyfil. It'll come in a huge roll, and is fairly cheap.
Too bad on the waste of a fine pillow

ya, you have to buy polyfill to be used to put in pillows. It usually does come on rolls or is a just net together, not shredded. Cotton is definetly a no-no. I'm pretty sure polyfill can be PCed, I don't see any reason why not; im sure a few people on here do it. I'll let them give you their expierienced advice.

I dont understand why people are pcing with polyfill when tyvek works so damn good. Go to your post office, take 5 priority tyvek envelopes and trace out lid sized circles and use on top of the lid after cutting a quarter sized hole in it.
You get your air exchange and peace of mind.

Thats what I'd recommend also^^^^^^^^^^^^^ polyfil does have it's place especially when filtering air in chambers.
