I wasn't aware Florida was their native land. None the less it's a good climate for them, why not keep them outside planted in the ground on a trelis. Perhaps they'll flower then.

Like i said, I'm not aware that Florida is one of HBWR's native lands, so my answer is no.

HBWR is not native to florida but they grow very well there. I grew it for a few years with no seeds either. I got lots of blooms and tried hand pollenating and cross pollenating but no results. Other people said the same. I had huge plants covering a large section of fence. It will set seed in hawaii and a few other places but oddly enough it's sterile most places. I have no idea what the difference is. Perhaps a symbiotic bacteria, fungus or whatnot.

“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship.” (attributed to Alexis de Tocqueville political philosopher Circa 1835)

That would just take a jar full of dirt from around a plant in hawaii. This seems like the most likley reason, im guesing somehow the fungi traveled from the far east where its native yo hawaii. From what ive read it was introduced to hawii by men but it still manages to bloom and set seeds.
