Hey i was wondering if anyone knew anything about these crazy things. we were searching out at teddy bear cove in washington, their were 5 of them in a little cluster and the ground. The ground was a mix of grasses, pine and leave droppings and some moss. the colors in the picture are true their really dark purple. Caps were 2cm and 2.5 cm's while the stems are 6cm & 7cm in length and 1.5 cm wide on the bottom. Any info will help thanks! IM me @ Prismagirl3 also if u have AIM

I think this is a type of laccaria, but..I know just bout as much as you do, so this is just my 10 mins of common sense and process of elimination. I'm sure im way off =) It is very odd looking whatever it is, very phallic ;P. Not sure if you took those pics with a webcam or a digi, but if u have a digi u should take pics of the mushroom in its habitat before you pick it, can help a lot.. ~D
btw, welcome to the board =) cya around!

I agree that it looks like a laccaria but a couple other genera come to mind as well, a spore print would be helpful.

Reminds me of Laccaria amethysteo-occidentalis with a smaller cap.

Yep. Cortinarius. Lacaria would be white.
