THANKS TO EVERYONE AT SHROOMERY FOR ALL THE INFORMATION THAT HAS MADE THIS GROW POSSIBLE!!!!!! I've grown cakes easily in the past and now I'm doing my first casing. I'll start the grow logs with pictures of one of my favourites pieces of clothing. I hate ties but I love this one
Prints from previous cake grow, cambodia syringe originally from mushmush.nl jars - Bonee mama jam jars and microwavable plastic containers with polyfill
Incubator - Just a plastic box touching the house's heating system. Temperatures around 85
Equipment- GloveBAG - VERY GHETTO BUT I'VE NEVER HAD CONTAMS YET, done some G2G in there as well. plastic bag with zipper originaly used to hold a douvet, holes opened at the side and gloves stapled
Grow house plastic greenhouse heated by house heater and a rubermaid with water, through a submerged aquarium heater air-exchange twice a day for 1 hour each time from an aqurium pump. airpipes go inside the rubermaid, thus helping with humidity temperature - around 80 humidity - around 80%
inoculated 1st Novemeber shaken only once after 4 days 100% in around 11 days crumbled and cased after exaclty 2 weeks casing - straight verm Put into growing chamber 15th November 20th November - no pins yet I'm suffering from slight overlay at the moment. The casing has been in the greenhouse for 6 days and some signs of overlay on 1 half (indication of uneven casing layer). Temperatures dropped to -4 last night so the teperature in the green house dropped to low 70s. I hope that this might iniate pins. Questions and commnents more than welcome! 23rd November Pins! Starting showing 2 days ago
I HAVE ANOTHER DISADVANTAGE FOR STRAIGHT VERM. THE COLOUR OF THE VERMICULITE IS SIMILAR TO THE PINS SO U CAN'T ENJOY THE PINSET WHEN THEY BEGIN TO COME OUT. AS OPPOSED TO A PEAT OR COIR CASING 25th of November Almost ready to harvest Pix yesterday
I've put some cakes in the greenhouse as well. I wanted to case them, but unfortunanetly I haven't got time. I will be going on holidays in the middle ot December so I thought I's just have them to fruii from cakes in order to get as many fluhses as possible 26th Novmeber - end of first flush Harvested the mushis last night. I haven't got a scale yet (on its way from ebay) so I can't tell you accuretly the weight for now. I was comparing the mushis to cans of tined food with my arms. I think its around 200g, I had a tin of tuan weighing 185G and the mushis felt heavier then that. Some spore prints being prepared mostly for the FSRE. I have plenty of cambodia prints already from previous grows. The mushis were suprisingly solid. Sometimes I've had slightly hollow mushis from cakes, but these were very solid. The largest of them (the one at the left corner was about 10 CM). Re-cased! Expecting to get another flush before I go on holidays.
29th Novemeber No pins yet from the cakes (it's been only 4 days though). I expect the casing to take at least another week before it fruts again. Now that I have more then simply a casing in the growing chamber humidity has gone up almost to 100% so I'll probably take the tub out to take down to 80%. 1st December 2nd lfush is coming along only after 4 days, I though it would take much more. The furits are less in numbers but MUCH bigger, would have liked a nicer pinset, but anyway, its good. Following the suggestions of fellow srhoomerites and because I had excess humidity (almost 100%) I took the tub out and changed it with a small jar. The lastest pictures show how the setup has been changed. The airlines go in the jar, so the air bubbles keep the chamber humidified. Luckily temperature hasn't fallen too much, it remains at around 75, so its not bad for casings - Maybe a bit too low for cakes though. Only 1 of the cakes has started to show pins.
13 December The final flush had only 1 big shroom. It weighed about 40g. I'll be going on holidays for Xmas so all the stuff will be thrown away. The cakes were dissapontining only a couple of shrooms each. Don't think I'll b doing cakes again.

good luck trunksan - is that you in your avatar? not sure about the tie, but the setup looks great. a few points -
the big tub of water for the heater seems unnecessary. the casing will make its own humidity, and standing water is a contam magnet. even with bleach in the water, i'd take it out. why the greenhouse holes w polyfil? is the bottom airtight? and is the airpump airline filtered?
i'll be watching. big up the UK massive (or something)

The big tub of water in the bottom is both for heating and humidity. Without the tub temperatures drop below 70, it also keeps humidity stble. I'm aware that it is a contam risk, maybe when the weather gets better I won't need it
The greenhouse has polyfill for better air circulation (don't ask me, I've just read it on the shroomery), so that Co2 and 02 can escape.
The bottom is almost airtight (I've covered it with cling film). The front where the zippers are, I just put something heavy to keep the plastic touching frame, since I have to zip and unzip easily.
The air for the pump is not filtered.

ABOUT THE TIE:
I've had several PMs about the tie. For Info: I bought it from Covent garden (London) and it is hand painted (cost ?20 as well), so it's quite uniques, dunno if someone has ever mass-produced mushroom ties.
I hate ties but at my last job it was compulsory to wear them so I thought I could add some character to my otherwise dull work-clothe (suits and crap).

Change that water often, like weekly and use H2o2 every day or two. If your having heating problems why not get a heater in your room then a cool mist. Or you could get a steam humidifyer and hook that up as you would with a cool mist. If thats too much heat then tou can throw a cool mist on the side too and tune that.

Your glove bag and grow chamber are some of the best things I've ever seen. Are you doing 4 cakes and a casing?

Did you just put more casing on top? or did you dunk/soak/spray? before casing again?

I didn't dunk, I just spayed lightly the existing layer (whaterver was left of it anyway) and then recased with moist verm.

Thnx...The glove Bag was an idea that I came up with because I couldn't be bothered with making a glove-box. I had made one in the past, but I'm awful with building stuff so I came up with the idea when thinking of alternatives.
My grow chmaber is simply a mixture of other people's ideas put together. The idea to put polyfill for example, came from eatualive's double-tub tek.
I started with a casing. I was planning to make another 1 with the 4 cakes that you now see in the chamber but I'll be going on holidays soon for Xmas and I realised that I might not even have time to get a flush, so I just put them there straight away. The cakes were fully colonised at around the same time that the 1st flush of the casing ended, that's why u only see them at the end. They haven't showed any pins yet!
