I would not quite agree with Egoless, at the beginning of the fruiting process, light is extremely important because light is one of the "triggers" for the mushrooms to beginng pinning, it also "tells" them which way is up. I'd give them at least a few hours of light per day, especially at the beginning, some people will even go as far as 12 hours of light per day, which is what they would be getting in the wild. I've got nicotine stains on my fingers. I've got a silver spoon on a chain. I've got a grand piano to prop up my mortal remains PEACE HeGzEdited by *HeGz* on 06/12/01 09:08 AM.

while it may not be the ideal way to grow...I find that you don't need anymore light then it takes for you to open up the container and fan and mist. For my last 3 flushes (just about to harvest #6) they have shown up before I have even started giving light. I open the container to fan and see the little buggers popping up. I ask them how come they decided to show up before I set up their lamp. They just smile at me and say we wanted to make sure that you get to eat us as soon as possible so we couldnt wait for you to shine some light on us. I used light on all the previous flushes before pins popped up so I don't know if they would have done it on their own regardless of the light or not. Karen
