I know it is no help but I was wondering about a similar question for the martha setup... What would be the best way to heat that , my setup would in be a pretty cool place during the winter months and a heating source would seem inevitable. Also has anyone use this specific brand of greenhouse ... if so how does it rate compared to the martha setup??

i use it and love it. I've not used a martha, the only major difference is you dont have to build shelves and shit, it's all included

yes the temperature will be between 60 and 65. i think a cheap heater from the store would work..

The problem with a small space heater is that it puts out a very, very drying heat. It could work if you wanted to heat the whole room the greenhouse was in(It'd be a lot easier if it was in a closet), but that may not be feasable.

I think I would probably do something like put a tub with geolite in it in the bottom of the greenhouse and put a submersible heater in there with the temperature sensor at the top of the greenhouse. That way you could get some nice moist heat going.

this is just a highdea, but you could put a submisable (small one) in the ultrasonic's pan (below the water container where the action takes place) though its not running 24/7.. or maybe in the coolmists resivour a semisubmersiable? small geolite tub seems more reasonable though..

Yes, that works too. I suppose it would depend on how much you need to raise the temperature.

Most people don't have the ultrasonic on all the time, so it would probably be better in the cool mist's reservoir. Even then, I don't know if it would raise the temperature more than a few degrees.. Maybe though.

I just like the idea of a nice warm column of moist air rising from the tub. The tub could also collect condensation water instead of just draining it off.. I bet you'd almost never have to put new water in it with a setup like that.

1. Buy submisseable fishtank heater. Fill up cat litter sized pan of water, place on bottom of greenhouse and see how it goes. You could also look into "heat bomb" Of course these wont perfectly evenly heat the whole chamber, but it'll be pretty close I think. The only way I would guess to heat the whole thing evenly is with the room temperature. A mini heater out of the chamber puts out very dry heat, it will work great. I do not think it will be a problem with your humidity whatsoever.

ur saying to simply put a heater in a large bin of water and it will create heat? i'm not chemist but this doesnt seem like it would work too well.

and as for the geolite method, wouldnt that work as a humidification tek similar to the perlite tek? and wouldnt i need to have the heater completely submersed in water with no surrounding geolite?

im shooting for a good 10 degrees warmer. what about a simple heater along with a huge bin of perlite/water?

another question - is it safe to have a HEPA filter inside the greenhouse with high humidity levels?

sry, just trying to be certain on things before i get ahead of myself

Is this going to be in a grow room or is it a hidden grow?  If in a grow room, you can get a $40-50 programable ceramic heater to keep the whole room at 75.  If it's hidden, then I like the previously stated idea of a small water filled tub with a submersible heater.  http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=46311&item=4337301635&rd=1
A submersible heater like linked to above should be able to up the temp several degrees, if not you can use it to make a nice incubator with.  ps. everything stated above is not true and should be disregarded  GL

well i appreciate the advice guys i think i am going to experiment with the perlite humid tek then maybe purchase an ultrasonic humidifier if i so desire. i realized the room i am in is occupied by a computer so it may be getting up to 70 degrees in here so i think the tub with a submersible heater should do the trick just fine.

im still wondering - what is a good way to incorporate proper air flow in the chamber ? will placing a small hepa filter in the chamber eliminate stagnant air , or do i need to be replacing the air inside the chamber with air outside the chamber in order to control CO2 levels? i know there's a fellow who uses this greenhouse. if u are reading this, how do u institute proper air exchange? thru hepa? hoses? wut?

Usually with a marth/mini greenhouse setup like that one would use a cool mist humidifier and an ultrasonic humidifier. The cool mist is on 24/7 and that takes care of the air exchange and most of the humidity. The ultrasonic is on for a couple minutes every few hours to help boost the humidity.

I would suggest not using perlite, it sucks.. It gets too compacted and hinders natural convection of the water, resulting in a hotspot near the heater while the other side of the tub is cool...

I'd use geolite.

If you get the type of heater that has an external temperature sensor, you should be able to raise the temperature inside the greenhouse by just about any ammount you want. If you set the thermostat to 76?F and put the sensor somewhere in the middle, it will heat the water until the air temperature is 76?F, even if the temperature of the water in the tub is 95? or whatever it has to be to get that temp.

I am a fellow who uses that greenhouse. For gas exchange you NEED a coolmist humidifier outside the greenhouse pumping fresh air into it 24/7. Dont put a hepa inside, it wont do anything except circulate the stagnet air. You need fresh O2 enriched air.

here is my setup with that greenhouse

ok, i understand i need resh O2 enriched air, but how is the air being circulated if the greenhouse has 2 intakes, one for the coolmist and one for the ultrasonic. doesnt the air need to be circulated out as well? why or why not? thanks.
