Stacking Jars Like this (Homemade Picture)

So if you are pcing rye jars, and you have space enough to stack jars horizontally instead of vertically will it cause any problems? Here is a paintbrush illustration of what I'm talking about.

I've done that before. I usually get worried that the holes I made in the lids are going to rust, and that the rust it going to contaminate the grain that is now up against it.

But I do it anyway.

Rust is just a chemical reaction, it's not biological in nature and can't contaminate anything.

If your using polyfil you might want to let the water soak the rye for 2 hours or you might loose some water tru the hole. But other then that it works great :smile:
