coupons, generic foods, and for meat...things like chicken, sometimes it's cheaper to buy whole chickens, sometimes it's not. section off the chicken parts and freeze whatevers not used for the next time. lots of can foods. things like that. it may be better to plan your main meals first, then go shopping.

there is a thread about cheap food, some good ideas there!
http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/3371905/an/0/page/0

I don't know if 50$ is sufficient though, I don't think I could pull it off

Find the poorest hoods in your city and shop where they shop.

any big super chains will probably have the most bang for your buck, well costco type places will most definitly.

$50 a month.. Thats a tough one..

But not impossible..

Best tip is to look at your local adds which come out every wednesday in your local paper.
Look for the best price on milk, cheese, meat and deli meats. Then shop smart, only shop on double coupon days and use plenty of coupons.

Also you should make one BIG batch of something every week that you can freeze.. Soup, Beans and Rice, Spaghetti and so on.

Get yourself freezer bags or them ziplock bowls, the kind that you can reuse. Buy according to your weekly sales. You can always find enough stuff to make a gallon of spaghetti sauce for $10.
That would be a 5 pound log of hamburger for $5
and 4 cans of generic spaghetti sauce for $4
Then its $2 for a large bag of noodles on sale or .20 with double coupons.

Shit, with smart shopping Ive seen people buy $300 in groceries for just $50. It can be done but I just dont know what they are going to do with most of the shit they got.

I saw this thing on foodnetwork about this coupon queen. She gets a shopping card full of groceries, and the total comes up to like $120. Gives the guy a stack of coupons, and ends like paying like $3. Apparently there is a website with tips, but I forgot the woman's name.
