Mold on dry mushies...
    #3386235 - 11/19/04 09:48 PM (12 years, 9 months ago)

I aquired a 1/4 oz of some decent shrooms about 3 weeks ago. Last weekend I was eating some and I noticed one small stem had some white fuzz on it. It kinda looked like mold but I wasnt sure. So I set it aside from the rest of the bag. I kinda forgot about it, but its only been a week, and the fuzz has turned a light green. Now one of my big fat stems has a small white fuzzy spot. It looks like mold. Is is my assumption thats what it is. But what would cause this, and how do I prevent it in the future? My shrooms were in a sandwich bag (non ziploc) in my desk drawer. I'm assuming I shouldn't consume any shrooms with anything fuzzy growing on the outside, correct?

most likely they weren't completely dried out when you acquired them. putting them in an airtight tupperware container with a small amount of damp-rid will take care of the problem for the rest of your shrooms. throw away anything with white or green fuzz on it, your stomach will thank you. for future reference, use the search feature for questions like this.

most molds aren't bad, despite all you hear. However, some molds are deadly. SOoooooo..., depends on what kind of mold you have. Not much help, but you're kinda taking it at your own risk. That said, if you wanna kill the mold and get the magic, boil them.

how do u boil them? just wap them into some boiling water if so, what effect does this have on dosage plus wont it destroy the psylocibin?

Put them in about a cup of water in the microwave and put it on high for 5 minutes watching to make sure it doesn't boil over. Each time the water rises to the top stop, let it go down, then turn back on and get it boiling. Just make sure it doesn't boil over.

Or you can do it on the stove. Bring to boil. Boil a couple minutes. Then turn it off.

Make your tea into lemonade or some other flavor. Hold nose and chug.

Eat the carcasses of the shrooms to make sure you get all the magic.

The heat won't be a big factor. Trust me on this one, and let me know how it works for you.

yuk, dont do that. Ok maybe the heat from microwave would kill the mold off, but it doesnt eliminate possible terrible allergic reaction left from thier toxins or whatever....

I personally wouldn't use a microwave, I don't want radiation in my shrooms. boil them in a couple cups of water on the stove for a few minutes. boiling temp isn't hot enough to destroy the psilocybin. strain the mush pulp out and use the water for tea or hot chocolate. i wouldn't recommend eating anything with mold on it, but you can successfully extract the psilocybin from them in this way.

I don't understand the worry about the microwave, but if you're worried the stove top does just as good.
