hello fellow 'shroomers!
This is a pic of a casing 7 days old. The casing consists of a very light bottom layer and a 1/4" top layer of 3 parts vermiculite/1 part peat moss. In it is 3 crumbled cakes cased after each cake yielded 1 flush. They are covered and misted daily. The strain is eq from 3m. Any thoughts?
thanks,
GB...

Dig down into it with a clean tablespoon. Bring up a core sample. Tell me what you see. You got nothing to lose. Also, how moist is the casing?

Hmm, does not look promising. Maybe the mycellium got too wet from all that misting, it is possible for mycellium to get "drowned". Maybe the cake pieces dried up or the nutrients are used up.
I've got nicotine stains on my fingers.
I've got a silver spoon on a chain.
I've got a grand piano to prop up my mortal remains

For some reason I can't get the pic to attach. oh well... Digging through it was obvious the crumbles had grown together a bit. It was like digging in firm soil. The casing is moist like the morning dew. Very light but noticable.

I'm not posting because I have any answers for you, but I am a doctor of journalism, I'll have you know. Now if I were crazy enough to engage in such a criminal activity, as you have described, it would be for the greater endeavors of the human race, and take place somewhere else besides my residence. With that said, man, can you give us any more details other than that depressing photo? i.e. Light/ no light? Were these cakes just birthed or had they flushed any before casing them? Did you drill holes in that tin foil hell you show with your photo, and then keep the whole contraption in a terrarium with perlite for a bottom? Did you sterilze, man, for fucksake?
I know that these are a lot of questions, man, but you must pull yourself together before the bats get here!
PS My attorney advises me to tell you to say nothing to no one!
Wait till the poor bastard sees those bats!
