We are different then bugs, Trendal. Way different.
Well personally, I think we're just a "higher order" of life than bugs.
With Humans, our offspring are unable to care for themselves immediately after birth...so the task of procreation for Humans does not end at birth. Our Purpose becomes not just the physical act of procreation, but to ensure that our offspring reach a developmental level where they can care for themselves.

which doesn't totally involve procreation
-------------------- Annnnnnd I had a light saber and my friend was there and I said "you look like an indian" and he said "you look like satan" and he found a stick and a rock and he named the rock ooga booga and he named the stick Stick and we both thought that was pretty funny. We got eaten alive by mosquitos but didn't notice til the next day. I stepped on some glass while wading in the swamp and cut my foot open, didn't bother me til the next day either....yeah it was a good time, ended the night by buying some liquor for minors and drinking nips and going to he diner and eating chicken fingers, and then I went home and went to bed.

Cherry, I'm so glad you brought up the collective spirit theory.
I myself am kind of leaning toward that thought. And as sad as it sounds, that Final Fantasy movie thing that was played on HBO a while back made me really think.
There was Gaia of the earth, each person or life force (plant, animal, etc) contained a spirit, and upon completion of their life, they would return to Gaia as one spirit, taking with them their experiences, knowledge, and love.
In essence that would mean that we are all "the same being" but smaller pieces of that being. This settles much better with me than the thought that God has already written my life and everything that happens in it because I believe that we have freewill and our destiny while here is ours to choose. Maybe we all have a lesson or mission we are here to complete before returning to our collective spirit, but then again maybe we are here to live our life, learn, and return as I said above to share with our greater self all of those experiences and the knowledge and insight we gained from it.
One more bit of theory is that people talk that their entire life flashes before them right as they leave this world and enter wherever it is that we go afterwards. Perhaps this is our feeding of our information back to the collective spirit before being prepared for our next journey. We remember everything, positive and negative, and learn to love it all right as we ourselves become the greater being of all of life.
If I keep going I'll either end up writing a bible or rant on and on, so I'll quit here and see what you all have to say about the theory.

I read this bit about either Buddhism or Taoism, cant remember this second, but it talked about all of us just being part of this world energy. Like what Silven and Cherry are sayin, and that we are just bits of its energy that it is using to entertain itself. We are almost like the earths imagination incarnate. I like this idea, though I'm not sure if it flies logically, but who said life was logical?
As for me, I think that I dint have a predetermined purpose in life. I intend to live my life the best I can, hopefully leaving behind some good art, music, maybe some enlightenment. If not, the least I can do is be cool with the rest of the life on this planet and not impede on anyone elses happiness. I'm just trying to see the world all and all.

One of my favourite authors is Sylvia Browne. She's an amazing woman and her insights into how things work and such are so compelling.
Silven, if you ever get a chance to, grab one of her books. From reading your post up there, I bet that you would totally relate to it.

For sure! I read those books when I was in highschool and I would love the chance to read them again. I remember relating all kinds of things that were happening in my life at the time to those books.
I wonder if I re-read them if everything would change all over again, just like the first time?

I think stuff would change. Sometimes a bit of literature, art, or music can really open your mind up. But it seems too often that we forget the lessons we learned rather quickly. I think Im going to put together a collection of these types of arts that have opened my eyes at some point or another. That way whenever I notice myself slipping back into the grip of drowsy eyed ignorance, I can get a perceptual boost and get back into the good life.

I think that is such a good idea. It's so true that we quickly forget the lessons that we've learned. I think I'm going to go the bookstore this weekend and pick up another copy of The Celestine Prophecy.
Thanks for reminding me beejay!!

I think I'm hitting the book store this weekend too. It's been too long since I've been in there. I'm sure the owner will be surprised seeing me walk in the door after 6 months of not coming down.
I love you guys as lame as that sounds.

i think this place is like an airport between flights, we are just sorta hanging out here for a while until its time to move on

Glad to be of serves Cherry. And Silven man, I feel ya. Ive met some of the best people Ive ever know in this last month on the shroomery. Kinda sucks though, cause I'm totally addicted now, but its well worth it. And for now, its how its supposed to be. Nice to be able to flex the ole brain once and a while. PS thanks for influencing the idea. It was only unearthed thanks to stimulating conversation or posting... whatever, thanks guys yall rock. Slipnot, I hope your right and that we get to go somewhere after this. I always say I hope to get to level 2. Only problem with your metaphor is that there isn't so much to explore in an airport, and here we have a giant gorgeous planet, which intend to explore thoroughly But I totally get what your sayin.

bookstores are the shit! i think i'm gonna stop by the borders near my apartment and read this book called 'the god molecule' some more today.. its a pretty funny physics book, and since i'd really like to know more about phyics (specifically astrophysics), but i can't afford to buy any books, i just go to the store and read it for hours
that's the best thing about bookstores, you can loiter for as long as you please!
