After pulling off the lids on my jars and waking them up out of hibernation. 3 jars turned out good and white, 2 were mostly white with green growing on them, and 1 turned orange. Cased the 3 good ones and I'm growing the two semi contamed ones just on their lids to see what happens. Tosing the orange one but I would like to know what coudl turn it orange.
Thanks.

If something doesnt look good it isnt good. Experimenting with contaminated jars, especially when obviously contaminated is not a good idea. If they produce mushrooms itll just be a let-down because under no circumstances should you eat them. My advice is ditch the contaminated ones and the questionable one. Itll save you alot of heartache and turn your focus into making more sterile jars in the future.
We learn from are mistakes, if you make one, dont drag it out. You wont learn much about mycology from examining contaminated substrate, and breeding contamination anywhere in your house is a bad idea.
Keep at it and be safe

ive always been interested to see if one could use everclear or the like, with a high ethanol content to kill any bacteria/viruses that can be on your grown mushrooms. like, an infected cake that fruited, and had contaminated fruits.
this wouldnt work if the bacteria or fungus produced harmful chemicals....

man from what i read on shroom wizard site he posted that even if there wa scontams on the cake area of growth that in no way would the shrooms be contamed by any means, he also stated that its a common belief that indoor growers feel this way.but in nature shrooms grow with contams side by side.. just soemhting i read doens't know if has any true value.

if there was a little green on it, you could try cutting it out with a hot knife to cauterize the mycelium and get the greenie meanie out, but chances are it's on the inside too.
if you want to take the chance, go ahead, but don't say you weren't warned.
i've nursed diseased cakes back to health, but i don't have time for it anymore.
