Concerns on short-term high heat exposure during incubation
    #3381626 - 11/18/04 10:35 PM (12 years, 5 months ago)

AFOAF asks:
"Should I be concerned that my rye jars were exposed to 91F for a short period of time? It was maybe 24hrs or so. The ambient temperature inside the tub-in-a-tub incubator was at a nice 85F, but only on the bottom was the temperature at nearly 91F. Corrections were made to the situation, so the bottom side isn't so hot. Should I be worried? My main concerns are:
1. Spores dying
2. Rye drying up

Any input would be appreciated, thanks."

Absoultly nothing to worry about. My girl turned up my water bed heater, where I incubate because she was cold. They spent the whole night at 100 deg. They are in casings right now, NP
