hey guys great board , a beginner can really learn alot here. i have just started my first four jars using wbs and the z strain. my question is do jars colonize better if left in the dark or does this not matter? also is the only draw back of not incubating your jars slow colonization? my jars have been going now for about 6 days and im starting to see just a small bit of colinization. would it be bad to start inccubating them now or should i just leave them the way they are?

you MUST leave them in the dark to colonize. light is used for a pinning trigger. not incubating your jars will slow down mycelium growth. Remember the ideal conditions are for ideal mycelium growth. If you lower the temp, growth will slow. You can start incubating them now and I recommend it.

light will promote immature pinning, which isn't very desirable. darkness and incubation are best used now. look for the tub in tub incubator, there's a search button at the top.
