Help! :)
    #3380206 - 11/18/04 03:35 PM (19 years, 4 months ago)

Ok, Jars have been incubating 3 weeks today, All jars are 50-75% colonized. Today (5 minutes ago) I checked the jars and one jar has mushrooms pinning, One bigger one maybe 1 inch long and 1 next to it half its size, The jar is only 1 side and 99% of the bottom colonized, What should I do now that its showing mushrooms? Should I toss it into the terrarium or wait a few more days?

for sure let it colonize a bit more... the mushroom isnt gonna hurt anything. You should be sure to keep it out of the light next time, and that wont happen.

Hey haz, Thanks for the quick response, I started to panic for a minute.

Another question if possible (last  ):
Before the mycellium grow its turns grey, sometimes green (thought it was a contam?) and then it turns to white, The culture itself doesnt seem to be not healthy, After the green or grey covers a area, It looks like every other jar ive seen, Is trhis normal? I never heard of anything else but white mycellium in the tek's. Should I be worried? The jars smell like mushrooms. Thanks!

yea, pics would help, but i've for sure never heard of mycelium growing green or grey... could be cobweb or trich, but if they smell ok, then it might be alright... really hard to say for sure without the pics.  We're always in the irc #cultivation chat room if you need help right away

cobweb doesn't leave a smell IME, it's usually just bacterial contamination that leaves icky smells.

if it's not showing up white, it's not mycelium. the mycelium might overtake it, though it might still be on the inside. personally, that's something i'd throw into my compost pile.

yeah.. sounds like your jars got contamed and the myc over ran it. if your shrroms look fine.. no worries, but if they are slimey or just nasty in general, toss em.
