One day I'll get this straightened out.

I now have 9 cakes (3 more coming if i dont decide to try casing) in my terrarium which is a relatively small rubbermaid with perlite humidification. I absolutely cannot get the rh above like 85%. I have tried more water, less water, vicks cool mist, weatherstripping to ensure air tight lid...everything. Also, regardless of the reptile heat pad underneath as well, the temp hovers around 68. My guess is the root of the problem lies in the fact that my room has a cold floor due to outside air under my room. I'm gonna use pmp with fish tank heater next time but for now i'm stuck with this. So, any suggestions?

By the way, i originally thought i just had a shitty hygrometer but now that i have pins (a shitload of them) i see that they are growing at a snails pace and have mycelium on the caps. So, now i'm sure my humidity is too low.

Dude if you have mycelium on the caps your humidity is to HIGH. And humidity has nothing to do with the rate of growth. Temperature and strain will play bigger factors in that. Plus they grow much quicker the last half of their life then the first half. But yeah, shitty hygrometer.

I've heard it both ways, some say myc on caps means rh is too high some say too low. If you say the rh is too high then i'll agree but there is definitely something wrong when i have ecuador pins about quater inch long and 4 days later they are no different. I'm gonna try putting the thing on a chair to get it off the floor. If that doesnt work i'm gonna build a pmp and transfer them. The only reason i havent yet is i dont wanna risk contamination. If i do that i'll just hook a cool mist up to the tup they're in now, take out the perlite, and try some casings. Thanks for the responses. Much appreciated.

I always thought that myc on caps was because of RH being too high. What I want to know is, how are you supposed to lower the RH in a PMP? by fanning?

Yes you can lower the rh by fanning and misting less. However its not really needed. Myc growing on stems and caps isn't really an issue..just eat it I get myc on alot of my caps..especially if I leave them beyond mature when they start curling up they form a cup and water sits on top much easier.
I can asure you though that myc won't grow in dry enviroments..it loves water..lots of humidity..if it likes water why do you think it would only grow if they're dry? The mycelium growing just means that its healthy. If you have small spots on the caps its fine but large amounts on caps is a sign that you got alot of water in the air. They say transpiration is negitivly affected by way to much humidity but if you have a PMP then your humidity is fine..no need to measure it..it will be 90%+ more likly 95%+ and even more likly 99%. If you get alot of myc on the caps dont mist as much..still mist..just not as much..thats most likly whats causing the myc on the caps..the water sits on the caps and makes the myc fluffy.

I'm gonna not mist for a while and see if growth speeds up. Theres about 20 little fat pins in a tight group on two sides. I hope they dont abhort. If they do grow they might make my cake fall over.

Black album a masterpiece but still not as good as MOP or Ride the Lightning By the way i got the tub off the floor and now the temp is in the mid 70's. They look better already. I'm gonna see if ican find a digital cam so you all can see.

I guess in a way your right. Black album has the catchiest songs on it but its not as heavy. Either way any of their older albums are far better than anything on the market today.

All of their earlier albums are masterpieces.
I don't mind their newer stuff, but it doesen't have that edge. You have to give them credit for sticking around and doing what they want to, regardless of if you like it or not, though.

Yea, I just saw them with Godsmack (not a fan of them) in Cincinnati a little bit ago, the St. Anger tour. They still rock, though they didn't play Hero of the Day, though it's their newer shit, it's still my favorite song by them
