lethal injection?

so wait a minute, I could go out and murder 20 people for no reason, and than as punishment get a pain free death? is there something i'm missing here? lethal injection sounds like the ideal death, why is it so inhumane? how the fuck is that scaring people from murder, rape, etc.?
if I ever get convicted of drug possesion, whats stopping me (other than my own beliefs) from taking out the cops that arrest me?
sorry, this most likely has been discussed already.

yes this has been discussed many times. I'm all for executing murdererS, but I want them to suffer a little before leaving us.

Lol, well there's only the little fact that you'll be dead
The idea behind capital punishment isn't to inflict pain, it's to end the life of a person.

well first of all i have heard that what lethal injection really does it cut off certain functions of the body so you dont show the pain that youre actually enduring to those watching, when it is actually quite painful making your lungs internally bust and other niceties.
that said, the argument goes that the death penalty has never been shown to cause any detterrent versus life-imprisonment, which makes sense when you think about it. if you were to actually to decide to commit the ultimate sin, you are probably thinking first of all that you won't get caught and if you do, youre life is gone no matter what. whether thats by death or rotting in the hell-hole that is prison, doesnt make much of a difference.

i'd start with the fact that drug possession doesn't usually carry a death sentence with it whereas cop-killing does. also, there's always the hope a lawyer can get you off

yes, the point isnt to inflict pain/revenge, but to end the life.
lethal injection, I believe, is just setup to make sure the prisoner does in fact die and dies in a way that doesnt make everyone in the room vomit all over each other (i.e. electric chair).
I am opposed to the death penalty but I'd rather see a firing squad of 15 men and 14 bullets and one random blank.

> why is it so inhumane?
Easy... lets say you didn't go out and murder anybody, yet they convict you of murdering 20 people and pump you full of lethal drugs as a punishment... can't really give somebody their life back when we realize that we screwed up and murdered them by mistake.
> i thought it puts you to sleep first?
Usually Sodium thiopental is used to put the victim to sleep followed by pancuronium bromide to paralize the victim and stop breathing followed by potassium chloride to stop the victim's heart. Death usually occurs from 5 to 20 minutes after the order to murder the inmate.

As far as I'm concerned, throwing a murderer in a 10'x10' cell and throwing away the key is totally appropriate and preferable to the death penalty. Expensive, but still preferable to state sponsored revenge killing.
That said, if we are going to execute, it should just be done in the easiest most efficient way possible. Maybe hanging? I don't know.

We agree completely.

So are all those damn appeals required to murder a murderer.

Agreed. I say, lock 'em up and throw away the keys. Maybe let them out again when they are too old and frail to cause any more damage to society. Let them live their last years in even more pain, as they see the world around them has changed so much while they sat rotting in their cell.

i am starting to give up on the death penalty. it costs to much and ties up our courts. if we can just make sure they get life and not double double secret secret probation for killing someone. unless it was someone in my own family, then the courts would not have to worry about it.
