In your opinion, is this picture of a B+ shroom on a PF cake real or fake? You be the judge.

It is attached to the cake very strangely. Also the cap from the shroom beneath it "disappears" behind it unnaturally. It looks too unnatural, too suspicious.
Also, I've never seen anything this big off a cake that small let alone a casing. I just can't accept it as real by the way the pic looks.

if you use a macro lense, and very low depth of field you'll always get a black backround. plus, that mushroom is way more in focus then the others.. no way.

Macro lens and depth of field have little to do with it. You get the black background effect from a small aperature(higher number), which actually gives you the most depth of field, and by using a flash. Example: Taken with my Canon PowerShot A60. Shooting Date/Time 10/26/2004 11:57:52 PM Shooting Mode Aperture-Priority AE Tv( Shutter Speed ) 1/60 Av( Aperture Value ) 8.0 Metering Mode Evaluative Exposure Compensation -2/3 ISO Speed 50 Focal Length 5.4mm Digital Zoom None Flash On Shutter curtain sync 1st-curtain sync White Balance Auto AF Mode Single AF AF Range Mode Macro Here's another picture I took last Spring using the same principle. A baby Praying Mantis.

it could be real, and the shadow you see could actually be where spores were dropped... but its hard to tell for sure.

i dont think it is real, if you are someone who plays with photos sometimes, with photoshop or something else, i think there's a few things that get recognized fast...and people have told these already

Its possible that it's real but it looks fake. Wouldnt that tiny cake tip a little with that huge shroom on the top corner? Been so long since i've seen cakes pinnin in person... nice shroom either way, really slick if that cake kicked it out

It's a matter of leverage if the shroom was growing out at a 45 degree angle then it would definitely fall over BUT it is close to vertical so the center a gravity is not far off the centerline, also the weight of a cake is heavier than the shroom so there ya go I have seen a joke of a photoshop shroom (100+gm.shroom on a cake) someone tried to pass along over at the Nook and I called him on it (it was a fake)

I think it's fake cause it looks fake. If someone was to look at it and say they think it's real because it LOOKS real well then that's fine, but I refuse to cloud my judgement with who's pic it is or how popular that person is. Usually, when there's smoke there's fire. I'm not saying that it IS fake for sure, but I am saying that to me and many others it looks like an obvious forgery. The fact that it is this obvious to this many illustrates how suspicious it looks. And not just because that's a 12 inch shroom growing on a 1/2 pint cake either. It just flat out looks funny. I'd say the same thing if it was 1/4 of it's size. There's something about it that doesn't blend in right...
Besides, whoever 'grew' it should be proud. At worst he was able to fool alot of people and at best he's the proud owner a half pound shroom off a pf cake.
