Woo Hoo finally.........

Woke up this morning to find AFOAF 1/4 pint cake pinning like crazy, and even a little guy coming up. The pins are all around the bottom so far. The thing is AFOAF am worried about is that AFOAF has casings in with the cakes and they require different humidity. There is some mycelium poking through the cased cakes(crumbled anywhere from 1-2 1/2" deep then covered lightly with damp verm). And the fluff coming through the layer looks nothing like pins?

If your cakes are on perilite this happens often (fruiting from the bottom of the cake). If you have casings in your terrarium with the cakes i would worry about the casings more than the cakes. For your cakes to fruit properly (like in PF pics) you need high humidity. This is not the same with casings wich don't need the same ammounts of humidity, partly because they make some of their own humidity also. If you leave everything the way it is there shouldn't be any major problems. The cakes will keep fruiting from the bottom side of the cake and your casings should be fine in a few days. peace

"You've got pins!" (in my best AOL client voice) Congrats Frothy!

You can leave that casing in high humidity until it starts to pin. Then maybe think about trying to lower it a bit.
