I was wondering if using dry dog food as a substrate might work? Since the mian ingridient in some is corn.

Why??? It seems to me that grain is almost as cheap a source. I guess if you just want to experiment you could try it. Bu i doubt that it would work with good results. There is still alot of proteins in dog food that will probably fuck with your grow.

I think once the dog food got wet it would turn to mush. I don't think their would be enough room between the pieces for the myc. to grow.
