A Faster, Better Way To Pf-Tek

Ok when i use BRF my jars take about 2 1/2 weeks to fully colonize

A few weeks ago my supplier ran out of BRF so i figured if people have success with rye jars why not try rye flour

I bought a bag of dark stone ground rye flour and substuted it for the BRF in Pf-Tek, the first thing i notitced was that the rye flour causes the mixture to clum up slightly more than BRF, this allowed many air pockets in the jars(more space for mycelium to grow)

I PCed the jars, let em cool and innoced with amazonian. within a week the jars were 50% colonized, after a few days they had actually passed some BRF jars that had been colonizing for a week prior to the rye. 9 out of 12 jars had finished within 10 days, before any of the older BRF Jars were anywhere near finished.

I figured that this was too good to be true, it must have been a fluke, so i did it again. Same results. Still thinking that this is a coencidence, i did 6 jars BRF and 6 rye flour, the rye was finished colonizing by the time the BRF was at 30%. Goog enough proof for me. When it came time to fruit the yeild and speed was the same as with BRF, between 60 and 80g wet. I know i will be using this tecnique from now on, i just thought i would share my discovery. :crazy2: :mushroom2:

This sounds like it has a little more to do with your prep then with the material being used. Alot of people have tried rye flour with similar and much different results.

It will work, but the clumping of the material seems to be your trick to success.

Nutrient wise, BRF and Rye flour are very close.
