Aussie and Purto Rican PmP

Hey Everybody,
I have ave a few problems, first of all I think my hygrometer is busted, i built my pmp and i have two 14 inch bubble walls and a millton air ma-200 with only one out. sounds perfect but my hygrometer only reads 40-50%?!?! Oh by the way I'm using "HYDROTON" Are there any good tests I can do for RH?
Now when I birth my cakes Am i going to want to put them on foil in the PmP?
...and last but not least, for heating I have a small very cool space heater that I can indirectly point at the Pmp to reach good temps is this OK?

THANKS A TON!

How big is your PMP? The pump you listed puts out 1666 cubic centimeters per minute. That's roughly 100 liters per hour. Converting liters to gallons, we get about 26 gallons per hour. PMP-tek states that you need to be pumping in 2-3 times the size of the container worth of air per hour. That means this pump is insufficient for a PMP larger than about 10 gallons. I don't think that this would so strongly affect humidity levels, but it's something to think about nonetheless.

Very interesting, thank you. My PmP is rather large but I not exactly sure how big. I would guess around 20-30 gal, what exactly will i be sacrificing if i only use This single pump?
Thanks Buddy.

you'd be sacrificing good air circulation.

Huh? 2-3 times per hour is quit overkill.... Does it really say that? Even the most aavid manual fanners only do it every 4 hours(6 times a day).

He hasn't told us how big his tub is, so theres no way for us to calculate his air exchange rate.

I have a 30 gallon tub being fed by a 168 liter/hour pump, so it gets exchanged every 0.6 hours. Remember, normal air CO2 concentration is less than 500PPM... the goal is to keep CO2 below 5000ppm in the mycelium's immediate environment. Shouldn't be difficult.

Here's a link to the part of the pmp tek post where Magash says 2-3 airexchanges:
http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat...rue#Post1723563

"the right airexchange for the chamber is 2 to 3 times a hour. So make sure that your pump can put out enough to do this and you?ll be set."
He provides a link to some fancy document explaining this.

I use two 5500s in mine, just because I use casings in my pmp and air exchange is more important then a very high humidity. Im using lava rocks, which seem to work awsome, and my humidity still stays above 90% in an 80 gallon container.

I think your hygrometer is out of service. Is it digital? A good 30.00 digital therm/hygro with an external sensor linked to your incubator is priceless.
