Psilocybe Cubensis
Equadorian Strain
Cultivation Difficulty: Easy
Potency: Moderate to Potent
Substrate: Dung, Straw, Various grains
Colonization/Fruiting Temperatures: 84-86F/74-78F
One of the most popular Psilocybe cubensis strains for indoor cultivation. The source spores for this strain were acquired through the Sporechicks. This cubensis produces large to medium sized fruits often reaching an average height of five inches. The caps start very dark red in color, lightening to a dark carmel color upon full maturity. Stalks are robust in nature, although not quite as thick as the Golden Teacher. Caps average 1 1/2 inches in diameter. Second and third flush fruits often reach heights of eight inches or more when cased and grown on grain based substrates.
The top two pictures represent Equadors grown on birdseed mixes cased with a mixture of peat moss and vermiculite. Notice the clumps of fruits appearing from the casing surface. The bottom picture shows Equadors grown via the traditional PF Tek, fruiting from a cake composed of brown rice flour and vermiculite.
Average colonization times for this strain is 10-13 days for 1/2 pint PF style jars. Mycelium growth is usually noticeable around the sixth to seventh day after syringe inoculation. In our experience, this strain traditionally takes longer than most to show the first signs of spore germination, however, once it appears, it will quickly colonize the remaining substrate. This strain performs very well both cased and uncased and is highly recommended for the beginning cultivator.

Ecuadors are a nice shroom although some people have been having a hard time to get it to fruit. That doesn't mean yours won't, they are usually pretty reliable.
By the way, Ecuadors have have been around longer than the Sporechix...

I assumed that they had been, I just copied that excerpt from the sporeworks web site. I've never had trouble with fruiting them, it just takes a little longer than some others.
