1. Electric or accoustic? Both - although I've been playing acoustic more over the past few years (constantly moving around means I can't take my amp with me )
2. Pick or fingers? Depends on what i'm playing - although I usually can't find a pick, and end up using my fingers
3. Favorite guitar? My Martin acoustic....
4. Self taught or trained? initially self-taught, then i studied jazz theory for a while
5. How long have you been playing guitar - probably 5 years or so... piano - closer to 10
6. Write your own songs or play mostly covers? I rarely play covers - only when somebody else suggests it. 7. You in a band? not at the moment... (same problem with the amp - moving around a lot means leaving band-members behind!)
8. Influences in terms of guitar style - wes montgomery, robert johnson, django reinhart ( ), mostly that kind of stuff...

you know, i think i actually like playing bass more than guitar... i played bass in a sort-of reggae/world music band for a year and fell in love with it! there is so much depth in its "simplicity" - plus what other instrument can make your soul rumble like that?
stand-up bass is incredible, as well (although it requires a bit more practice, i think)

I had to learn to play upright bass for jazz band in high school, and i loved it. the tone and the way it blends with the band still makes me melt. anyway, i tend to play acoustic. sold my electic a couple years ago. i have an ovation, and absolutely love it. i have yet to hear a guitar with a better sound. i'm trying to start a band, though i usually play drums in a jam setting. guitar is kinda an alone thing. Kremlin - Petrucci, eh? that's quite an aspiration, that man is not human.

1. Electric or accoustic? Acoustic guitar...poorly. I never properly developed my guitar skills since I became a bassist by default about a year after I started to learn.
2. Pick or fingers? Pick on guitar. Both on bass, depends on what I'm doing.
3. Favorite guitar? Guitar-I love acoustic 12-strings. Bass-I play an Ibanez 5-string but if I could have anything I'd be buying a Warwick.
4. Self taught or trained? Took a beginners guitar class to get the basics. Everything is self-taught since.
5. How long have you been playing Got my first guitar about 5 years ago. Started playing bass about a year later.
6. Write your own songs or play mostly covers? Both
7. You in a band? Yes. Thats how I ended up a bassist. Some freinds and I were jamming a lot and we decided to form a band. But we had no bassist, and since my guitar skills were lacking anyway I volunteered to be the bassist and went out and bought one.
8. Influences My biggest inspiration for wanting to learn...Pat Metheny

1. Electric or accoustic? Nylon String Acoustic Classical Takamine and a Semi-Hollow Jazz Guitar, and I also have a crappy squire strat but I hate and never play it. Just recently got a banjo too! 2. Pick or fingers? Fingers for classical of course, picks for rock, and both for jazz. 3. Favorite guitar? My Nylon String Acoustic Classical Takamine 4. Self taught or trained? Self taught for classical, but I took lessons for rock music, and am now taking lessons for Jazz (mainly for learning bizzare voicings because I already sight read changes and chord charts). 5. How long have you been playing Wow, only like two or something. 6. Write your own songs or play mostly covers? Both 7. You in a band? Eleph?ck! 8. Influences Some of my influences include: Bach, Hendrix, the Grateful Dead , Francisco Tarregga, B?la Fleck and Flecktones, and Django Reinhardt and many more inspirational musicians. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - http://www.elephuck.com will be on the web in only a couple more months.

Electric or accoustic? I really love the sound of acoustic and play mine a lot, but I also play electric too.. so about 50/50.
2. Pick or fingers? Fingers sound so much more mellow, but I use my pick more often than I finger pick.
3. Favorite guitar? My Les Paul Black Beauty
4. Self taught or trained? Self taught
5. How long have you been playing Only one and a half years basically
6. Write your own songs or play mostly covers? I don't have any songs I've written, I just like to improvise and occassionally if I come up with something I really like I write it in my "Big Book of Riffs". Play a few covers too.
7. You in a band? I turned down an offer to be in a band, so no I'm not. They wanted me to play bass instead of guitar. They're good friends though, so we still jam.
8. Influences Metallica and Megadeth for metal (Kirk Hammett is my hero)
And then I like a lot of older rock stuff that goes back toward Johnny B Good, the Eagles, Eric Clapton, Tom Petty, Beatles, Stones, etc etc. All good tunes.
-------------------- What do you bring to the table?
