Just started boilng...one quesion

I just started boiling my jars a few minutes ago, but there is a problem and I may not be able to inoculate the spores in the cakes..so does it matter if I put them in a dark place and inject the spores tommorow?

Nope you should be fine, if possible keep them at a cool temp until you can get them knocked up, I would imagine this would lessen the chance of bacteria germinating, nothing likes to grow in the cold :wink:

Okay thanks...and if I wanted to cool it down faster to room temperature after sterilization, can I just place the whole pot with cold water going up 1/2 way up the pot? Of corse that wikl cooler it faster, how long should this take,?

Not entirely sure, my guess would be between 30 minutes to an hour, closer to 30 minutes if you change the water every 10 minutes to keep it cold.

wouldnt it rather be better if they were at room temp instead of cold. Cold isnt gunna kill anything. If bacteria of anything was to grow in it it would mean something went wrong during sterilization. Especially in a day or overnight. Better to know before you put any spores in there id think. If you did everything ok jars should last a while. I wouldnt recommend waiting a few weeks, but a couple days should be just fine if there 100% sterile

hey, i just sterilized my jars today as well for my first grow. i just got done presure cooking them. i would let them cool over night and inject tomorrow if i were you. you wouldnt want to kill your spores by injecting in a hot cake. the jars have to be cool to the touch. take your time or you are going to have to do everything all over again. if you sterilized correctly, your jars could be stored for weeks before injecting your spores.

When I boiled the jars, they were completly sterilized. Putting them in the fridge is an excellent idea because bacteria or other contaminates cannot grow at those temperatures.

the fridge wont kill bacteria though it will only stall it from growing if anything. and ive seen plenty of things rot in the fridge. Dont think the frigde is a safe zone.

Hey balls...yea they can..They can't grow at cold temp.s but they can lay dormat for longggg periods of time, kind of like when mycelium goes into survival mode...it doesnt necessary die but it wont fruit either until later when its correc temps. return, gl
