Hi,
The honey tek looks like an interesting method.
Does this work with Shiitake mushrooms as well?

15psi at 20-25 minutes max. Better to just get karo because it won't carmelize. I've microwaved honey quite successfully without a plastic lid however, i just used multiple layers of saran wrap, and a sterile microwave.

I just did this today, about 5 hours ago.
I took 500 mL of water and boiled it for 30 minutes, then I emptied that in a microwavable gladware container and added 3-4 teaspoons of honey, and stirred it around. For my lid, I burned 2 thumb sized holes in the lid and stuffed it with polyfill. I then microwaved for 35 minutes on high. Then I let everything cool down to where the container was cool to the touch, then I flamed and alcohol'd my syringe and squirted about 5cc of innoculant in there (I know 5cc is overkill, but I have 25 x 12cc syringes). Now it's sitting in my dark, 84 deg chamber. I'ma check on it in a few days.

Yea I did mine just playin around, I was bored and didn't even feel like driving to the store to get some karo, so I just used some organic honey that I had layin around here. Once I get this down I'm never going to have to use a jar, grain, or a PC ever again. I'm just going to spawn liquid culture to pasturized poo/verm. So easy! So cheap too!

another option im thinking is buying this older pressure cooker but doesn't have a gauge. but it is only like 5 bucks for it at this thrift shop. wonders what range of flame on the gas stove i would use for enough heat to cook the karo's but without using a gauge i don't think its wise..
