Steak Sandwich

1 Strip Steak
2T Butter
1/4 Onion
1/4 each - red, green, yellow pepper
1t Chipolte Hot Sauce
1 Sausage bun
1/8C Mozzerella cheese
Seasonings - garlic powder, onion powder, red pepper flakes, salt, pepper

Ignite the grill and set it to medium-high. Heat oven to 425.

Put two tablespoons of butter in a pan and put the heat on lowish. Once the butter melts toss in some sliced onion, green, red, and yellow peppers. Mix it around and let it cook.

Now take a strip steak and season it(garlic powder, onion powder, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper). Take out and place on the heated grill(which is sprayed with whatever to make it non-stick). Close the lid.

Add some salt and pepper to the peppers and onion and mix it around.

After 4 minutes turn the steak 90 degrees(to get those sexy grill marks) and let cook for another minute. Then take some chipolte hot sauce and dash a few drops on(not much). Flip the steak, give it some chipolte hot sauce, and close the lid again.

Mix up the peppers and onion some more. Don't they smell good?

After 4-5 minutes the steak should be done(how I like it; YMMV). Take it off the grill and bring inside.
Slice open a sausage bun and place the steak inside. Add the seasoned peppers and onion on the sides and top with mozzerella cheese. Place in oven for 2-3 minutes, take out, enjoy!

The reason I suggest using the oven is I usually make some sort of potato with this so it's already on. I'm sure you could use your grill instead.

All the positive feedback makes me happy! 

I ate one yesterday for dinner, and I'll be damned if I'm not about to make another one for lunch :smile:

Also, you can omit the bun and cheese and still be left with a killer steak.

sounds very good

heres a little twist on the steak sammich that I really like from time to time

Mexican Philly

Make this sammy the same way you would a steak sammy, but substitute the green peppers for some jalapenos and yellow hot peppers. Then instead of the mozz, try some pepper jack.

Oh so good

Hmmmm, I was just about to get started on lunch...I think I will be trying that. I have some garden fresh jalapenos, and some great hot pepper cheese.

Is that a whole steak put into that sandwhich?

Doesn't that really mess up the texture? Having to bite through soft bread/cooked onions/pepers and then get a piece of thick meat...?

I like chipped steak for sandwhiches.

I would imagine that if you would cut it against the grain in strip's it would be quite tender

Yea, it's a whole steak. Strip steaks aren't too think. Does bitting into a nice big hamburger bother you? Of course not.
The bread is a bit crisp on the outside from being baked, the onions and peppers are soft, and the cheese is melted. If you cook the steak right, then it is tender, juicy, and tasty.
Try it, love it.

Also, I made the mexican version as suggested by You Suck, and it was mighty good as well.

dont care for pepper jack on sandwhiches. Provolone is better... Also i hear ancho chilies are where it's at since alot of the heat is being bred out of jalapeno's
