I've been meaning to reply to this thread for awhile now.
I hope things work out! Especially with the binaural beats! The Monroe Institute is FANTASTIC!!!!
An easy way to make binaural beats is with a program called "Cool Edit" or "The Brainwave Generator".
I've heard of some people making binuaral beats from a recording of their very own heart beat....very neat!
Good Luck!

I checked out your site already and downloaded one of your sample MP3 files "illusions" sounds nice I like that chick who's starts chanting and with the tech it must be awesome. Im gonna download the other sample files and check em out, thanx. As far as the website is concerned if you take the time and read it carefully it makes sense. There is alotta info there though maybe you might wanna streamline it for marketing purposes and provide all the background as a link. Just my thoughts, its cool though, no doubt...

I ordered one of these many years ago when High Times was really advertising them. Sadly I got majorly ripped off back then, they were way overpriced. I sent it back and lost some $$$ to a restocking fee. I sent for a cheap one $79.00 later and did not get it till 6 months later with a letter on how the company got sued and shit.
I still have the thing and it looks just like the one pictured. Basically the experience reminds me of laying back in the passenger seat of the car on a sunny day with the eyes closed. Like when on a drive and passing under trees, you get that warm flashing effect as the sunlight is broken up by the trees as you pass under.
As for halucination; bull!! Im sorry, but these things will not give you halucinations, just a mild kinda strobed trippy experience. Mine has different setting like for relaxation, higher thinking, etc. I havnt had it out in years.
I dont think you guys were claiming that they do give halucinations, but some of the companies do and claim all kinds of other stuff like higher learning ability.
Just wanted to give input on this since I have one. I do think it would be crazy to try and dose and put one of these things on; I never tried it.

Do you have any idea what model it was that you purchased for $79? Based on your descriptions (price, effect, etc) it doesn't sound like it's even based on the frequency following effect, or entrainment technology. We've been taking our booth to events and thousands of people have tried on the Proteus. The effects are of course subjective, as is everything that has effect on mind, but every person at least saw multicolored animated fractal imagery, and had an instant state of clear headedness/meditative state. Practically every single person that tries on the Proteus at our booth is completely amazed. Many people tell us it's the most amazing thing they've ever experienced. I'd feel pretty funny if we were selling something that made you feel like you were on a drive and passing under trees for $180 bucks. We also have a money back guarantee (with no restocking fee) for people who aren't satisfied. We've received one return from an older lady who loved it, but got a headache when she used it. Sorry you had a bad experience with the mind machine you ordered, if you had the time to check to see what model it was that would be great!

Hello gluckspilz,
The glasses look quite fantastic, but I have a few questions... Will the cool session editing program ever be available for macs or is there a program that can do it? I have virtual pc, but I'm not sure if the interface would work through it. I suppose I could do without, but it would be pretty cool. And, can a small mic be plugged into the proteus? I like that feature on the orion cause I go to raves from time to time and I think that would be too cool. Thanks for any info.

When I get home tonight I will grab the unit and post here the brand and model. Like I said, this was years ago.
The first one I ordered and got ripped on was like $400.00. It came with the goggles and a brown box with knobs that you adjusted for the frequencies. The light for this unit was whitish.
The one I have now has a greenish light with the typical humming pulsing sounds. I think its called an Espirit, but not sure.
Like i said, I will post tonight. I really was interested in these things; believe me, I was excited about the product. But now I guess I am abit bitter over the experience. No flaming intended at you or your product. I am just very skeptical after such a shitty experience.

Ok, its just called the ESPIRIT, I have no more documentation anymore. This was purchased back in the early 90's. I cannot even find any websites for it. The one before that had red lights and the company got in big trouble over it. If you know these products from back then, you should remember. I never got the one with the red lights, the one I have now was the replacement that I finally got like 6 months later.
The first unit I bought was very prehistoric, big goggles and a brown box that only had knobs that you turned and tuned the light and sounds. I paid like $400.00 for the piece of shit and when returned it got charged a $200.00 stocking fee.
I researched the Orion and the Proteus; these are exactly what I had. There are 4 little lights on each lens of the glasses. The lights pulse at different rythyms and the sound syncronizes. There are different levels and setting that supposedly interact with brain waves to produce an experience. Same thing I have now that I am tossing in the trash after trying it one more time.
Maybe I am one of those that cannot synk with the experience. That can be the case with things like this. With the money back guarantee; I guess noone can go wrong there. The one I have now looks almost exactly like the Orion one.
