effect of shrooms on medicines ?

Got a quick question:
Do shrooms/LSD have a negative effect on your body when you take them on legal drugs such as painkillers/antibiotics/... ?

I know pot doesn't really have bad effects while taking such drugs...

Please let me know if this is in any case dangerous... :smile:

Aparently an MAOI can highten the trip. Never tried it though.

I don't know about anti biotics?

I think I remember reading that being on an SSRI can fuck your trip up. That is, negate it, but last concensus (i think) was that they have little effect on psilocybes

There's not really a negative effect on the body. Painkillers, like tylenol, are probably worse for your body than mushrooms.

I've looked up some information now:

1) painkillers are very soft tranquilizers. They do cause the liver (and kidneys) to do overtime. So combining this with LSD/mushrooms isn't a big problem; as LSD/mushrooms don't require much to be broken down in the bloodstream.
( If the liver doesn't break down the active substances in your blood; that may cause bad effects on your body. )
So for safety reasons, it's best to just skip the painkillers.

2) antibiotics require a steady blood stream to work; so I'm guessing not a big problem there. And even if taking LSD/mushrooms would alter that blood stream; it would just make the antibiotics a little bit ineffective.

The only thing I didn't find, is warnings or bad experiences mixing those drugs.

(I found one report on Erowid; AMT + antibiotics ; but nothing he wrote could really be atoned to the antibiotics; to me it seems like he just had some nausea and a bad trip. )
