why?

this is more of me wondering than anything else. why is it that i have 3 jars all inoculated the same day with the same strain and put in the same incubator relativly close to each other, with no signs of contams, 2 have finished already and yet the 3rd jar is only 75% colonized. why does this happen or is it just the way it is.

obviously the other two are bullies, seperate the slow one and give it special treatment. Sneak candy into its pockets and read it stories before bedtime.

Because even though you used the same syringe, the mycelia growing in your jars may not be the same strain ,or substrain i should say, from jar to jar. Starting from spores is multi-spore inoculation. One in fact creates many strains with the stronger prevailing. So, your 3rd jar probably just isn't as aggressive as the other 2.
