Bad spore syringes?
    #3363554 - 11/15/04 01:07 PM (12 years, 4 months ago)

I have been growing for a little while now, but have been having some problems more recently with spore syringes. They came from what i believe is a site sponsor, TLG.com. I pressure cooked and innocultated the jars friday, and when i looked at them this morning, there was some light yellow growth around where the spores were put in. I heated the needle before, and about 4 more times during the inoculation period. Is it common to have bad spore syringes? It isnt the first time this has happened. The rest of the cakes look great, just around the area where i inoculated is bad.....thats why i assume it's a syringe contam. I'm using the PF tek, by the way. Let me know what you guys experiences have been, its getting to be a bit of an annoyance!

Sometimes you just get contaminated. It happens. How many jars are like that? Sure contaminated syringes are possible but I wouldn't expect it from the little guy.

8 bad jars, exactly the amount i inoculated with that syringe.....Hmmm something was off i guess, i know that contamination sure comes with the territory in this case. Guess i'll try to be a little more careful with things in the future......

Thanks for the reply,
