Lots of blueing during drying?

My shroomies are drying (dessiacant) and are bruising and blueing a lot. Is this normal. The stems are no longer white instead very blue/black. Will this cause a decrease in potency? Also they seem to get very soggy and wet before they start to dry, leaving a moisture build up on my hand. I think all this is normal but I am just checking.

thats bad, if your getting soggy you need more dessicant, the longer they retain water the sooner they will rot. try air drying them for 2-3hrs and then put back into chamber.
the blueing occurs because you handled them too much, mine usually only blue if i air dry em for 4hrs or so then place in my chamber, but if i skip the air drying they remain the org. color.

The effectiveness of a dessicant chamber is going to depend on the relative volumes of dessicant, fruits, and airspace----as well as the general condition of the dessicant itself.
Especially with larger crops it is good to fan dry for awhile first. I get them on a fan asap after picking, usually the only blue is on the fingerprint spots. Dessicant lasts a lot longer, and is more effective the less you expose it to fresh, still-transpiring fruits. 'Glistening' calcium chloride is not nearly as effective as the new stuff.

ya dude, if you want to try a completely different tech you would wana take a screen with a small cloth layer and put the desiccent on the cloth, have the air blow at a high speed (that of a hair drier) through the layer of desiccent and onto the shrooms. you see when the hot air loses its vilosity and hits the shroom pile it clings to its moisture and of course heat rises and takes the moisture of the shroom with it, thus drying it.
ya i kno i kick ass

here's a hint from my monkeys:
1. When you put your fruits in the drying chamber.... don't check them EVERYDAY... don't TOUCH them ... just leave them there... every time you open that thing up to look at them your letting in more oxygen(bad).....
2. if you leave your freshly picked fruits (the veil is just starting to break) in the chamber with a normal ammount of oxygen, and leave them there!, they will open up some more while they are drying inside the chamber.
but back to your questions... here's what i think
"Also they seem to get very soggy and wet before they
start to dry, leaving a moisture build up on my hand."
your problems of "excessive-brusing" is because you probably touch them alot and open up your drying chamber alot. From the time you pick your fruits, they should go directly into a SEALED dessicant container. WAIT for 3-5 days and they will be *perfect*. The only "blue" that you may encountered will be from when you actualy had to touch the fruit to put it into the chaimber... good luck and peace stranger:D

if you do this the moisture absorbed by the dessicant will eventualy drip on your shrooms!!! lol talk about bassackward....

oh ya the desiccant has to be changed every three days, there will be no extra moisture collecting at the bottom i promise
sorry about that really important detail i left out, im kinda shrooming right now
