Alex Jones' Weekly Report November 12 2004

In this special weekly report Alex analyzes a segment of Most Shocking: Survivalists, a production of Country Music Television. This was a reasonably fair and balanced perspective of survivalist culture and the militia.

For the record, I don't hate Alex Jones. I just don't swallow his every word just because I want to believe him. I actually find him quite entertaining, and a lot of what he says has some semblance of truth. But he then ruins his credibility by blowing each little factoid way out of proportion so that it can only possibly mean the American government is immediately moving to enslave the people and round them up into internment camps. Anyway, thanks for the link. I found the militia thing entertaining and informative.

yeah..I don't personally like the sound of what he and many others are saying either..it's not that I want to believe him - but I mean as time goes on it's been getting harder to not consider alot of what he is bringing to the table as there are so many examples of it happening now all over the world as reported in mainstream press

anyway for others who might ignore everything the man says for whatever reason - living in ignorance of the possibility is not going to make it go away.

I'm watching it now.

First funny thing I noticed: Alex Jones said that the people in power right now "want to take our freedom and liberties away"... which sounds a lot like the rhetoric Bush spews about the terrorists.

After the survivalist thing, he talks about how Bush and Kerry are "cousins" and that they're really the same, then explains how the Republicans allegedly rigged the election. Why would they do that if they're the same?

The guy talks like a preacher.

Wtf is he talking about "growing humans for body parts has already been legalized in several states"? "You digital cable box has a microphone in it"? "Don't believe me? I've been talking about this for eight years". "They"'re allowed to listen to all of our cell phone calls since 2001?

The police are paying the cable guys to spy on us, and this is being done out in the open?

He kind of just preaches on, without actually talking about evidence, or anything at all really. He just babbles about how "they" are evil, and are carrying out all kinds of evil things, but he rarely even cites examples, let alone backing them up with any evidence.

"They" are devil worshippers too!

"Because of the genome, they've got race specific stuff that will kill specific races"

Hah! Obviously he doesn't know what he's talking about here.
Blatantly making things up here.

He just kind of throws so much nonsense at you it's impossible to even think about half of it, and most of it doesn't really have any connection to reality.

Prince Charles and Ted Turner have books explaining that they want to kill 80% of the population?

Yeah, that must be it, I'm too frightened to face these "obvious" truths.

Not really a balanced show at all. The survivalists clip wasn't really unbalanced, but they don't really make any statements about politics.

-This link is about regrowing limbs, nothing about growing humans for body parts.

http://www.globalchange.com/clone_index.htm

This has a few links about the idea of human cloning. Nothing about growing humans for body parts.

Why respond to my statement with two links that don't have anything to do with it?

http://www.csmonitor.com/2004/0813/p01s02-ussc.html

I see absolutely nothing about the police paying the cable guys at this link.

http://www.phillyburbs.com/pb-dyn/news/111-09282004-373236.html?email=referrer

This is a link about truckers reporting suspicious activity...

Again. Two links that have absolutely nothing to do with the statement I made.

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2-1328680,00.html

Ok, this link is related to what I was talking about, but there's no evidence that this is actually happened, some groups just said that it might be possible, and that we should place restrictions.

This isn't very convincing.

I did a quick google search and those are some of the first links I found that related to what he was talking about. It shouldn't take a rocket scientist to be able to see a co-relation in what he is claiming and what is being presented in the above links.

Call them the new "first responders" in the war on terror. As average Americans, from truck drivers to handymen, are increasingly standing sentry, they're swelling the ranks of a citizens' army, always poised and on guard.

Is a cable guy not a 'handyman'? Perhaps there is a more specific article about cable guys somewhere - too bad I don't have the time to dig around for it just to convince somebody something when they won't even make an effort to try and 'prove' these caims wrong, but instead just go along with their mental reflex and react in the easiest way possible as to prevent the rocking of such a delicate cognitive boat..

No shit. The fictional stories he tells are loosely based on real news. Then he uses the real news to pretend that it backs up his silly tales.

Based on the actual evidence you've been exposed to, would you be able to piece together the same story Alex Jones tells, or do you need Alex Jones to ramble about it in his videos before it makes sense?

Sure he's a compelling speaker, and very passionate, but he simply doesn't have genuine evidence for what he says. The only way to disprove this statement would be to provide solid evidence for one of his claims, and I've never seen anyone do anything of the sort.

Is a cable guy not a 'handyman'?

Sure... but Alex Jones claimed that the cable guys were selling information that they taped through secret microphones in the cable boxes, which the article doesn't even remotely hint at.

The guy has conducted thousands of interviews on pratically a daily basis for almost the last decade..Your right, not all of his information comes from news, however alot of these silly ideas have been from informants who work for the microchip companies, who are police officers, who are CIA agents, who are congressmen..he's got alot of ground covered through that medium and if you're wondering where he comes up with some of this stuff this would probably be it.

No, I have not collected enough evidence to be able to 'prove' his conclusion to a skeptic let alone myself, however there is more than enough evidence hinting that the possibility IS there, and in looking at how incompetant our governments have been in recent times - I have become very concerned as to the transparency of whatever ulterior motives they seem to have..unfortunately, Alex Jones' explanation seems to make sense, and considering all the insiders he has interviewed and come to terms with information wise - unless of course they are all playing one big joke for teh sole purpose of watching him rant and rave about bullshit for shits and giggles..which after listening to a number of these interviews I highly doubt is the case.

I don't know about you, but in looking at all the things the government wants to implement into our lives in the name of 'national security' plus the fact that we are clearly moving into a society filled with Citizens being paid to spy on Citizens and nobody is in the least concerned about that makes me pretty fucking worried where all this is potentially headed.

Names? Didn't think so. We've gotta take his word for it.

There are tons of reasons people give false information, it happens all the time. Sometimes people convince themselves that they've got inside info when they really don't, sometimes they just want to tell a story. Without any actual references, and just Alex's word to go on, no his explanations don't really make that much sense.

Yeah, but increased security and unreasonable measures are not the same thing as international conspiracy of the elite rich.

Funny how you come to this conclusion before making ever an effort to check and see how credible alot of the people he interviews actually are.

I would agree but without making an effort to go through alot of the information and where exactly it stems from - even if to do so for the sole purpose of proving him wrong, your jumping to conclusions in saying it's bullshit by default could basically put you in about the exact position as you are accusing him to be in.

The thing is though... I've gone through quite a few Alex Jones sources, and I've yet to find a single one that constitutes solid information. I could spend as much time taking it apart as he spends putting it together, but that would be a waste of time. Anyone who spends that much time listening to Alex Jones isn't going to have a balanced view of the world anyways, as they're only going to be taking in one man's perspective.

You'd think that if he had even a few pieces of solid evidence, he'd put those front and center. All he does, is bombard you with tons of tiny little things that he claims prove his theories, and they don't really.

well, I guess it might not appear to be the case on the surface of the water..but the waters deep. Perhaps some scooba diving is in order.

Read Manufacturing Consent, by Noam Chomsky. He gives a realistic perspective of how it works, not a paranoid fantasy version.

well he does two or three interviews just about every show he has..so I guess one could say different perspectives are pretty much a constant thing during alot of his shows..although I do see what you mean, it's just that anybody would have a limited perspective on things if they got all of their information from any one source. I don't see why a little Alex Jones now and again wouldn't be almost healthy for ones info-diet.

I'm curious as to which sources you went through having come to the conclusion that he is full of it? I know some of the time it seems like he is jumping to conclusions in what he says about a number or news articles..but again if you piece that in with all the interviews and such he has done - all of these contributions have basically shaped his mind and formed a model of what seems to be basically happening and why. I mean as far as I can tell, there is alot more supporting evidence for the existance of an elite, or the so-called illuminati (or the Bilderburg) than there is to support the idea that it is just some kind of rumor or myth.. Even if only 50% of what he raves about is true, I would think that people shoud probably be pretty concerned about it. People want specific evidence, they want it on CNN or FOX or written down in the newspaper..well by the time you have the SPECIFICS in the news, in many cases, it would probably be too late to do much if anything about it. The time we are in now, we can see the corruption, it is right out in the open as he says, and if we tollerate it and let it continue wrapping itself in and around our lives for much longer, I think that it would prove to have been a very big mistake.

I mean as far as I can tell, there is alot more supporting evidence for the existance of an elite, or the so-called illuminati (or the Bilderburg) than there is to support the idea that it is just some kind of rumor or myth.

That's because it's hard to have evidence proving that something doesn't exist. The evidence for the existance of the Illuminati, is like, there used to be a group called the Illuminati, even though they seem to have completely dissolved like 200 years ago, and some people say they still control everything.

That's pretty much the whole pile. The evidence against this is that there isn't much evidence for it. What kind of evidence do you want? Pictures of rich people not controlling the world's economy?

People want specific evidence, they want it on CNN or FOX or written down in the newspaper..well by the time you have the SPECIFICS in the news, in many cases, it would probably be too late to do much if anything about it.

So we should make a bunch of stuff up and jump to conclusions because we don't have enough time to figure out what's actually happening?

The time we are in now, we can see the corruption, it is right out in the open as he says, and if we tollerate it and let it continue wrapping itself in and around our lives for much longer, I think that it would prove to have been a very big mistake.

There is real corruption, and things need to be done about it, but getting sidetracked with silly and ridiculous conspiracy theories, and making all kinds of wild claims simply paints you as a fringe wacko who nobody is going to take seriously. Check this link out: http://www.politicalhobbyist.com/debunked/alexjones.html

That guy explains it pretty well. This section is pretty good:

"Here I'm actually going to do something unusual: praise Alex. Because sometimes, in spite of himself, he does a good thing. Alex and the rest of the Tuesday-morning bunch uncovered some documents that gave county money to a "Fred Flintstone" of "Bedrock, TX" for some type of project. Clearly, an example of brazen government corruption. If Alex stuck to this kind of stuff, he'd be doing the community a great favor.

Unfortunately, like the little boy who cried "wolf," this claim is getting little play because of its source. What ought to lead to investigations is largely being ignored because of the other ludicrous claims put forth by Alex. Alex would be far more effective if he'd lay off the fanciful conspiracy theories and focused on the real corruption in government. It's not as sexy, but at least it's real."

Maybe it would be of interest to you to know that Alex has interviewd Chomsky a couple times. Thanks for the recommendation.

That might be true, but the stuff he talks about certainly doesn't match up with what Chomsky talks about.
