Possible Cyan? ID Help Part II

alright, so I went out again today, and one possible score, which looks more promising than yesterday's Cyan fake out. Hopefully you guys can confirm my hopes, but don't be afraid to be honest with me of course, I can take it Anyways, here we are.... Habitat: Found these growing inside a planter box in a small neighborhood park in Bellingham WA (PNW). There were many leaves scattered about the ground, along with many other species of Mushrooms (tall, slender, with Gray caps. Also, very orange mushrooms with orange stems). This was the only small cluster I found. I have included a picture of them inside their natural habitat this time. Gills: Cinnamon brown, attached to both the outer skirt of the cap as well as the stem. Some scattered dark coloring along the edges of the gills. Cap: The caps are slightly larger or smaller than a quarter (some bigger, some smaller). The edges are wavy and somewhat up turned on the larger fruits. There is a yellowish color that spreads out from the center which turns into a carmel brown color towards the outer edges of the cap (see pictures below). Stems: Very slender with a blackish blue coloring. Appear to be hollow, but its hard to tell due the slenderness of the stem. Some were however completely white at time of picking and are now blackish blue (more black than blue). Spore Print: Dark purplish color, almost black in certain spots. Lighter purple on the outside edges. Bluing: Very slight dark bruising around the edges of the caps, more intensely bruised on the stem. However, the coloring of the bruising doesn't fully resemble that which I have seen in pictures past, also, the caps aren't bluing as much as I would expect them to. (Keep in mind I am very new to all this and am basing this off of pictures seen on the shroomery boards from pro's like Mj and others) They are hard to see but they are there.... This is a picture of the surrounding area... Thanks for all your help you guys, happy hunting

yep, looks like you got them to me!!
as long as they bruise immediately and strongly on the stems, you're all good.

I can't see any blueing, and those stems seem pretty dark. I think sporeprints should confirm whether those are cyans or not.

I just finished the spore prints, they are a kind of a greyish purple (more violet actually). My camera isn't good enough to get a detailed shot, im gonna see if I can borrow a better one from a friend of mine tonight so I can post a pic...

if they are purple i'd say you're good to go, as long as there isnt *any* hint of a rust color

Yeah, the longer I look at those pics, the more they look like cyans. With a dark purple sporeprint as confirmation, seems someone has found some magic!

just make sure ALL sporeprints are purple, not just one of the bunch. one looks slightly suspicious to me, and galerinas and cyans can grow side by side and can look very similar. so just be sure they are ALL cyans

Well, if the sporeprints are really that color, then you'll be okay.
THe bruising in the pictures look black to me, rather than blue.

I'm going to echo angryshroom's comment that those mushrooms have a strong resemblance to the deadly poisonous Galerina species. Be absolutely certain of your spore print colors. Get a good dark spore print on white paper to verify the color.
The Galerina species we are referring to have the same toxins as the deadly Amanita species. They destroy the liver and cause death in typically 7 to 10 days. That's a pretty slow and unpleasant death. The deadly Galerinas have rusty colored spore prints.
Be certain before you consider eating anything!
Being cautious will cost you nothing more than a trippy afternoon or evening. An error will cost you everything.
Happy mushrooming!

I think more mature cyans will bruise a darker color because the stem has aged and isnt such a pure white anymore.
Heres some cyans from last year that show similar dark bruising:
I really do think that those are all cyans, esp if he verifies every mushroom with a purple spore print.
Hope this helps

Those are definitely cyanescens. Good find. I live in Mt. Vernon, if you wanna go hunting sometime. I know a spot, in Arlington.

Toxicman, which galerina are you refering to?
The deadly Galerina autumnalis which is often mistaken for cyans have attributes which seperate them.
Study this photo:
Notice the scaley stem, veil remains, and orange colors. None of which belong to the specimens in diablo's pictures.
Also, the caps are drying in a fashion from center->out (cream/tan->caramel), which is very common in cyans. Notice the drying in this photo:
A photograph I took shows this as well:
I am positive of those. They are cyans. I have fumbled through many a galerina, and yes, some do resemble cyans, but none of them bear such close resembalance to where they look exactly like p.cyans in every way. The caps are right on, the stems are right on, the gill color is right on.
Enjoy those cyans.

Thanks for the quick responces everyone. Im going to re-take the spore print for each one tonight, ill let them sit for several hours so I can be positive (How long will they keep dropping spores?). I definitly want to be sure about thse before I even consider eating them.
psiclops, I go to school up at WWU, I'd definitly be interested in going on a hunt sometime. I've been searching on my own or with my roomate so far, so it's been hard because I lack experience this beeing my first season hunting. So It would be great to go out hunting with someone who maybe has more knowledge, or at least another mushroom minded person beside my roomate. PM if your seriously interested.

Do a spore print overnight, and when you get up, check them, if it isnt dark enough yet set it back down and smack the top of the cap with your finger to shake loose some spores. Let it sit for a little longer.
They are cyans man don't worry
