'cuse me John does freezing interfear with there maturing? Will below freezing temps make them abort?

Yes, but only on the small button pinner specimens in the ground. The larger ones can stay that way immobile for a week to ten days or longer before rotting if it is cold enough. They are like lady bugs in the freezer. Hibernating inthe cold which keeps them fresh. Eventualy they will began to decompose. But they were solid in the cap and stems were pretty white with a light bluing on them.

Those are some extremely large caps in the last picture.

I can tell that the frost gave them an almost foamy appearance.

Well will they resume growing and maturing after they thaw out? Or does the freezing kill them and preserv them for about 10 days?

Generally when the caps are open and becoming undualated and some what wavy they are mature. Others with thicker stems can get real huge, as seen in some of the larger specimens I found this year. I found one cyan, wwhich can be verified by TRhe owner of Homestead Book Company that weight 45 grams fresh. It was growing in cat piss pinus shrurbs.

And it was all broken where the cap resembled Flower pedals. That is a common featyure in over-sun dryiong specimens of P. baeocystis which has a pleated cap edge that drops down from the edge of the cap up to 1/4 inch at times. When the cap attempts to spread out tomaturity,it starts to become wrinkle and splits into pedals instead of becoming wavy because of the pleats in the structured sided of the cap.

mj. I have images somewhere.

I will post now and come back and see if I can find them on my computer.
