first popcorn grow

Hi everyone this is my first, well my second grow, my first i was unable to complete due to unforeseen circumstances. I'm using popcorn in pint jars, I used the pressure cooker to hydrate the corn and then dried it off with a towel as told to in one of the teks around on mycotopia. I just got done pressure cooking all my jars and I'm afraid that there may be too much water in the jars. The popcorn was dried well when i filled the jars. Is it normal for some water to accumulate immediately after pressure cooking. Hoping all we be good to inoc tomorrow morning.

i tried popcorn and found that it was very slow to colonize it was also very hard to sterilize (lost half to contams) i also found that if it doesnt colonize quick enough then raise the temp in the incubator i will say that once it starts colonizing it is very very fast and it is the best thing ive cased yet although i only have cased brf and popcorn
hope this helps

hmm thought you had to soak popcorn for 24 hours then simmer say 30 minutes then towel dry but they also say to add verm to the bottom so it catches extra water content then i would add nutritional yeast to your popcorn ,but then before all that you should have used coffe water to make your popcorn jars..haha lot sof info i find on here i search everywhere advance old post,i try to keep an eye out for hippie3 i think, read some shit of his from years ago and i rember his name cause hippie easy..so good luck yes make karo jars..

just a question, but did you remember to shake the syringe.. that would account for no growth...what temps are they incubating at? this would help me know whats up. Also 1cc is not much for that big of a jar. If growth does occur before contam i'd sugest shaking it after you get some decent growth.

If you just injected popcorn with a spore syringe then it will take longer to colonize...maybe like 2-4 weeks pending on environmental factrs. Popcorn works great but worke even better when used in grain to grain format. It colonizes quick and is used as a fantastic bulk spawn.

Well ive noticed growth in three of the 11 jars today at 2 weeks so thanks for telling me not to throw them out. They are incubating between 80-84 degress im using a tub in tub incubator with a sumbersible fish tank water heater turned all the way up but it wont maintain a consant temp. And i didnt shake the syringe before inco so im not expecting all of them to spawn. Therefore ive made some karo and will start on a new batch as soon as that is ready. Thanks for all the help so far from everyone.

recently started harvesting, using a popcorn case (3 of them). i have to say that i am impressed with popcorn as a substrate. it was quick to colonize with honey water tek and i am impressed at the over all performance of the flushes. compared to BRF and PF tek, popcorn is the way to go. no contams in any of my jars, as compared to the disasters i've had with PF tek. much thanks to those who answered my sometimes stupid questions!

Considering my Rye jars finish in 9 days, I would need to say that 2 weeks for germination kind of defeats the purpose of doing grains in the first place. Speed and quantity is what makes the contamination risks well worth it. If you have to wait 2 weeks+ for 100% colonization you might as well stick to pf tek.
Just a thought I guess. I wont stop using rye until something better comes along.
