Lines Drawn In The Sand [COMPLETELY re-written.]
    #3357581 - 11/13/04 11:15 PM (12 years, 6 months ago)

I'm really happy with where I ended up going with this... and I think thanks is due to the people who encouraged me to scrap the original version.

Anyway, for your perusal.. this is fairly done lyrically, but will probably change a little in the process of actually making it into a song.

Feel free to leave positive or negative feedback. I like honest opinions.

Verse 1
-------

Hi, I came to see..
What was her name? Who can she be?

It seems a mystery.
I'm caught inside, I'm lost in dreams.

What could the problem be?
The world's open wide, and this space is free.

I feel it's dangerously
o-open wide, just like the sea.

Prechorus 1
-----------

"These rivalries are going no where"
"I think this time it's gone way too far."
"Afraid I won't be coming back now."
You have to learn to settle for a

Mortal life and history.
Your mortal life is history.
you gotta stop and smell the breeze
We're trapped inside our sanity.

Chorus 1
--------

We draw the line and cross it
make white lies and say we lost it
take our troubled lives aloft
and find a land, without the man

and so we draw it from the faucet
make like time and say we lost it
so survival can become our
great demand.

Verse 2
-------

I cannot be
everything they wanted me to be.

for now I see
it's a waste of time, and energy.

I Can't depend on me...
Sacrifice my time to mass and greed.

but in the evening breeze,
I find a way to open up the seams.

Prechorus 2
-----------

I try to stifle, holding back now...
Just let it go and I am endowed
The catalyst bested it somehow
Realize that I am without.

Take a breath and let it be.
No more stressed insanity.
I am the way I ought to be.
I realize totality...

Chorus 2
--------

We draw the line and cross it
make white lies and say we lost it
take our troubled lives aloft
and find a land, without the man

and so we draw it from the faucet
make like time and say we lost it
so survival can become our
great demand. Don't you understand?

This is life, and now we've lost it
so divine we couldn't toss it
so we lost it in our pocket's
deep expanse, in a trance...

So the mind is now the boss and
we can't find the switch to stop it
all our lives, without an outlet
or a stand.

Verse 4 (Quiet)
---------------

The final scene.
Take a breath and let things be, they'll be...

just the way you dreamed.
Separate and let your feelings free.

I know it's sad to see
But we don't have to make believe.

We're strangers in this dream...
Just let it lie, and let it be.
