I'm gonna start cultivating in a couple of months, I think, so here's what I plan to do. Please give suggestions liberally. Substrate - MMGG substrate (BRF Verm) Casing - (I might not case on my first try, but if I do...) 50/50 ryche hawk. Terrarium - I was thinking of using a fairly large tupperware container. Humidity - Perlite, or has anyone read that thing with the lightbulb and the water? Heat - A heating pad on MED under the ter. Air exchange - ? any ideas? Am I missing anything?

I think you mean fish tank heater bulb in water. A light bulb would explode, or at least it wouldn't work. Other than that sounds pretty good. What strains do you plan on using?

Just b+ to begin with. How are they in terms of difficulty growing?

Never experienced B+ first hand, but I have heard from other sources that they are easy to grow and have a good potency.

for my first time growing i used both b+ and hawaiian from PF, and i noticed that the hawaiians colonized much quicker (7-10 days quicker than b+) but since this is my first time i cannot compare over the long run that b+ are generally slower so decide for yourself!!!

I am so glad you asked this! I am a first timer also and using the same substrate and terr. I am planning on using verm/jiffy mix as casing. BrownPasture said I didn't have to pasturize it... hope this is right?!!? I am also going to use perilite. Can someone tell me if I still have to mist if I use perilite?

Johnnyshags, he is talking about the Poor Man's Humidification/Heater Tek which uses a normal 40 watt light bulb floating in water to create humidity. Although the author claims that the bulb will not shatter or malfunction, I think this tek sounds like a potential electrical hazard. I'd advise against it, especially when simple perlite works so well. And to answer your question Maria420, if you properly use perlite, there is no need to mist.

"I then took an ultra bare-bones light fixture, which consists of a bulb screwed into a plain brass socket with a cord coming out of it, and put it in the jar of water, and turned it on, and replaced the terrarium lid." the guy who wrote this is fucking CRAZY!!!!!!!!

Just because I haven't done something myself, doesn't mean I don't trust the people that have told me their efforts. Alot of knowledge is second hand knowledge. We all know that the moon isn't made of cheese, but how many of us have been there to see it for ourselves.

You'd better get your vermiculite now. There might not be any left in a couple months. It's being pulled from shelves in the US due to an asbestos advisory.
