Cyans and Cyanofibrilosa
    #3353450 - 11/12/04 10:23 PM (12 years, 3 months ago)

Well today I found a few in larelhurst and then went to Green Lake and here are a few images.

Here is the P. cyanofibrilosa shrooms

And some Laurelhurst cyans.

From Green Lake

A green-capped cyan at Green Lake

And here yet is another cyanofibrilosa sent to me by Jeremy Bigwood from 1977.

Remember that the caps can have a wide variety of colo9r in them and that they can grow short close tot he ground and also groww tall as four inches given the right environmental conditions.

Nice Fibs MJ.  :smirk:  I am curious, based on the content of conversations we have had in the past.. why cite locations? I know it is ok to post parks and MAYBE neighborhoods.. But what is the motivation behind it? Sometimes you scare me MJ.

Suberb pics. Were those Greenlake ones found near a sprinkler system?

Saying a Seattle nieghborhood is pretty broad, a lot more broad then citing a large park.

mjshroomer -

How common are the P. cyanofibrilosa? According to my ID guide (Stamets: Psio of the World) they grow in coastal rhody gardens. But the pics you posted greatly resemble some mushrooms I've encountered in my searches around Corvallis and Albany. Is this possible?

They are not so common but can grow in the pounds under the right conditions. They grow from eureka/arcada to B.C.

Paul's photo, which I used with permission in my book, is not really representitive of the species. Bigwood has published a great photo.

I once found a cluster of them in the mid 1980s with over 100 shrooms cepitose at the bottom.

Hi. They are but they were mutated froms omeone walking ont he mulchbeds or decompressing them before they were growing bigger which mutated the caps.

Here is a great Stuntzii mutated cap.

Looks like a clit or an orchid shape.

And Psilly Girl, here are a couple of posted images either by you or DH. Cnnot recall, which also you can see resemblensce to my images above in your images. I do not know why they came out short stemed.

For a good varience, look at the ones in paul Stamets PMOTW and then look at the ones in David Arora's book for more comparison to Pauls book, only bigger larger specimens whcih arora accidently labeled as P. cyanescens.

WEll have to go. i am oprganizing 216 graphic shroom designed imaegs for the size. have to do a lot of wirk. Rename each photo for the FTP. then size them to my specifics. The make a thumbnail for each one. Then jpeg compess all images (216) and then compress the thumnails. then I have to FTP each image tot he site. Then the thumbnails. and then i have to reneter those images into my files and remname the originals to match the sites nam,es. Lots of work. Should be done by tomorrow night or Tuesday morn. 11 new pages of shroom art.

bye,

mj
