Moulin Rouge

Is anyone else here just completely nuts over this movie?

I've seen it multiple times, and am reduced to tears every time.  Particularly when the songs sing We can be hero's... and  Come what may...

But the best, most eternally true thing said in that movie is:

The greatest thing you'll ever learn, is just to love, and be loved in return.

I feel that's a message from the divine.  A message from God.

I've watched it twice while sober, twice now while high, and sometime in the future I think I am going to take shrooms and watch it.  Seriously, this is my favorite movie of all time just because everything in that movie is love-driven.  On the surface it appears to be "just a cheesy love story," but in my opinion it is so much MORE then that.  It reveals to the viewer the positive sides of love, and the negative, and *every character's* actions in that movie is motivated by love.

Love is the most universal human desire, in my opinion.  We all just want to be loved.

Anyway, I adore this movie for the message it imparts.  Just wanted to see if anyone else shared my feelings for it.

The greatest thing you'll ever learn, is just to love, and be loved in return.

I didn't mind the movie... it had positive moral messages, as you've said... but what REALLY bothered me about that movie was the really obvious gimick. They used a bunch of songs that everyone already knows, because it's the only way to get most people to sit through a musical these days.

Or, in other words, I feel that they used these songs as a simple means of drawing a larger audience, and therefore a larger revenue.

Always loved this movie, but while on cubensis saw it with such an appreciation! So beautiful with its message, the CGI produces great visuals/tracers. There is wonderful music and a touch of avant garde, art house film quality to it.
