A neat quote to ponder
    #3348266 - 11/11/04 08:30 PM (12 years, 28 days ago)

I read somewhere over the last couple of months this quote.

"What you attempt to control ends up controling you."

Fuck if that ain't the truth. Most all have this anal need to put everything into little containers, including our limiting judgements of others to keep them under foot in our control.

I wrote elsewhere how I am anal around the house, how everything has a place and must be in it. I'm a slave to my freaking home.

Same goes with our negative or limtied judgments of others via a need to control them and put them in their place in "our world subjective view" of them anyway.

They will begin to control you because you have now become a slave to keeping them in their place.

Just something trippy and f'd up to think about. :mushroom2:

Set people free from the boxxes you put them in and you won't be a slave under their control of you anymore.

I completely agree.

I have also heard this quote in the words "Sooner or later the things you own end up owning you."

--------------------
A plethora of music aspirations control my temptations of future revelations beyond "now". The percussion, and the heart beat of my love and devotion. The rhythm goes beyond, prying into the third eye, releasing the creativity held so far inside. The melodicies, through the out of tune pianos and broken classical guitars...there lies a beauty. A beauty as prevelent as the fire inside. To release these energies is pure ecstacy, to deveop these gifts is sacred. The vocality, so pure as can be, shying away from herself, lies within me. For the underlying serenitity, this is what I live for. I plea for harmony, and nothing more. Music equals love. Creation of love leads to the procreativity of the World, and it's spirals and puddles prevailing.

I completely agree as well.

What a boring thread, everyone agreeing and all.

I wasn't gonna bother posting my response for that very reason, but this forum is dragging ass right now so I figured it's better'n nothin'... :P

I look at it this way: The only things that can possibly control you are the things you *allow* to control you. You build something up and make it *important* in your life, and then it becomes a limiting factor. Its part of the whole yin-yang make or break brand of idea.

Then the question comes down to basics like 'what is control', and 'what is my idea of life?' and controlling life... wtf it makes no sense anymore.

Control the controllers. Or rather don't control the controlling factors because you just end up limiting yourself.

We have no masters, and we are the masters of none. realising this wont set you free because if you do realise it, you're most likely trying to take control in some form or another so its the same game over and over till you die.

Makes me think of that post silversoul just put up about being obsessed with death. Death, personal death may be the only way to overcome that dichotomy. Maybe the metaphor of death is really about giving up control or the whole game and question 'are we in control or not? and why is it the more control we take the less power we have over things...?' Its like the wider your perspective becomes, the more thoughts you have to conquer, and why do we need to keep on jumping hurdles anyway?

hahaha

Great, Gomp - take notes.

Other than that - I agree with this being a boring thread. I just made it twice as boring by saying:

All you have to do, is quit being anal and just throw stuff around without caring where it goes. If you forget where you throw something - that isn't important and you need to lose it. (I mean literally and metaphorically)

Nevertheless its important to hold stuff, because if you don't have anything to throw you'll be the kid sitting alone, next to the sand-box, with sand in your eyes....or you could always go home and watch TV....or discover nirvana....or whatever. Anyway, I'm gonna fucking throw this shit at anybody who stands in the way, no matter what you do.

Wanna play catch?

it is really that
you get involved with what you like
and
you get involved with what you avoid

involvement can seem like you are controlled since you become linked.

the only way to change is to release.

you just go soft on it and allow it to go where it wants.
uninvolvement is uninvolvement
releasing is the way to uninvolvement

Yeah, arsonists make notable quotes, too!

Then we can misinterpret them to assign some zen-like meaning.

I was listening to a friend the other day while he was rambling on about how he just can't seem to get caught up on this or that.

The reality is that the sooner we realize that we never get our feet on the ground, the more content we will be with our lives. The trouble is unrealistic expectations which control us.
