Rhymes with Me.

Rhymes With Me.
-------------

It's times like this I wish for my relief,
although I self-inflict this damn disease.
Somehow, all along, I'm only fighting me...
and still I cannot stop this damn disease.

Thinking tends to get the best of me.
I force it down 'til I can hardly breathe.
Wondering how long I've been up my own sleeve,
looking for exemption in disease.

Funny how we all end up bereaved.
We're taken while we're young, and so naive.
Never thought I'd be the one to bury me.
We're victims of our own catastrophes.

Blocking out the sun to find your keys...
really never made much sense to me.
When all is said and done, I still abandon me...
watching as the light dims in the breeze.

EDIT: I just noticed, this is my 1000th post. Yay me, woo woo woo.. and stuff..
..Kinda glad I didn't make a specific post to make a stink about it, because I think that's kinda dumb. (Then again, even adding this edit is sorta like doing that. Guess I'm kinda dumb.)

Amazing.  I feel like you've taken the feelings I've had inside of me the past few days and painted them upon the page for me to read.

I especially like these lines:

Cool.. glad someone can relate. Thank you both for your responses.

No one ever responds to poetry on here, so I really appreciate it.

I find this interesting.. the last few days I've had a major faltering in my usual positive attitude. I've been really down about a lot of physical ailments I've had to deal with for a long time now.. just frustrated, really.

But I find it interesting that someone of similar mind also "happened" to be having a rough time the last few days...

Coinky-dink or not, I'm entertained.

Yeah, I don't know, I've had some pretty potent depression lately.  The fact that I *know* that I have the power to pull myself out of it, doesn't make doing it any easier.

Wow, you practically just quoted something I said in conversation with Chunder and Bassvikinggod yesterday on AIM.

I was talking about how I feel trapped between my awareness and my ego. Like.. even though I'm "aware" enough to know that I could put a stop to my sour mood if I wanted to, at the same time it's like I don't WANT to, because I AM my ego at the time, and my ego is not interested in any such thing...

That's the craziest thing ever, because I have had those *exact* same reflections about my mood lately.  Maybe we're on the same energy path or something.

I think what you're describing is when you just step back (methaphorically) and analyze how you are feeling and why you are feeling this way (it happens more with negative emotions). Its a step in the right direction, methinks.

Yes, that is essentially what it is about.

While it is a step in the right direction, a better step would actually be to simply stop thinking completely.
